Job Description

EHS Manager

The EHS Manager is responsible for leading Vermont Creamery's health, safety, and environmental programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with Land O'Lakes corporate standards. This role drives a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement while partnering across Operations, Quality, Finance, Human Resources, and Supply Chain to support business objectives and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all site safety, health, and environmental programs, policies, training, and compliance initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop and execute site EHS strategies, annual plans, and performance improvement initiatives aligned with corporate standards.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, risk assessments, corrective actions, and regulatory reporting.
  • Oversee environmental compliance programs, including wastewater, stormwater, waste management, permits, spill prevention, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Partner with plant leadership to drive a strong safety culture, continuous improvement, and operational performance.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies, contractors, and corporate EHS teams to maintain compliance and support strategic initiatives.
  • Lead and develop safety committees and cross-functional teams to build organizational capability and accountability.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing environment; experience supporting facilities with 100+ employees preferred.
  • Experience with environmental compliance, wastewater management, and sustainability initiatives preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as ASP, CHMM, REM, IHIT, or related credentials preferred.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of safety, environmental compliance, wastewater systems, ergonomics, and behavior-based safety.
  • Proven leadership, problem-solving, project management, and change management skills.
  • Strong communication, influencing, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, EHS regulations, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma preferred).
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to building high-performing teams and an injury-free workplace.

Salary Range: $93,360 - $140,040. In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges.
