Superior Skilled Trades is partnered with a national commercial electrical contractor specializing in technically complex, sustainable, and high-performance construction projects. They are seeking an experienced EHS Manager to join their team in Austin, TX.
The EHS Manager will provide leadership and direction for environmental, health, and safety programs across projects and teams. This position will work closely with project leadership, field personnel, trade partners, and clients to identify risks, maintain regulatory compliance, strengthen safety culture, and continuously improve EHS performance.
Position Summary
The EHS Manager will lead and develop EHS professionals and project teams while overseeing safety programs, inspections, audits, risk assessments, training, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
The ideal candidate will have significant construction EHS experience, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to communicate complex safety requirements to field teams, project leadership, subcontractors, and clients. Experience supporting electrical construction, data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial projects, advanced technology, healthcare, life sciences, or other technically complex construction environments is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, mentor, and develop EHS professionals and project safety teams
- Oversee comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures across construction projects
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations
- Conduct and oversee jobsite inspections, audits, risk assessments, and safety reviews
- Identify potential hazards and develop effective corrective and preventive actions
- Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, documentation, and follow-up
- Monitor EHS performance metrics and identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
- Develop and deliver general and targeted EHS training for employees, subcontractors, and trade partners
- Communicate complex regulatory requirements and safety procedures to field and project teams
- Partner with project leadership and workforce teams to promote safe work practices and strengthen safety culture
- Develop and advise on emergency response plans, including evacuation, first aid, and other emergency procedures
- Support project teams in identifying and mitigating high-risk activities
- Provide EHS guidance to trade partners and subcontractors
- Coordinate with clients, project teams, and cross-functional groups to address complex safety and environmental challenges
- Ensure timely resolution and documentation of audit findings, observations, incidents, and corrective actions
- Promote continuous improvement through EHS best practices, training, communication, and knowledge sharing
Qualifications
- 7+ years of EHS experience within construction, industrial, manufacturing, or a related environment
- 1–2+ years of experience in a management or leadership capacity
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices
- Experience managing or overseeing EHS programs on active construction projects
- Strong understanding of jobsite inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective actions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to work effectively with field personnel, project leadership, subcontractors, and clients
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-development abilities
- Ability to analyze EHS data and identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
