ROLE PURPOSE

EHS manager will primarily drive and support site EHS management initiatives at the Van Buren Plant in line with the global Journey to EHS ExcellenceTogether with the operations,engineering,and maintenance teams, the EHSmanager will improve overall safety performance of the Van Buren plantThis position will have a broad range ofresponsibilities within the environmental, health, and safety area for the Van Buren site.The positionmayrequire the candidate to spend time (20 - 25%) out in the plant.

  • Compliance with procedures that implement the requirements of theEHSQSpolicies and procedures

  • Being responsible fortheir own actions

  • Carrying out their work in a manner which does not present a risk to themselves, others, and the environment

  • Reporting all incidents, defects, hazards, and inadequacies of procedures so thatappropriate reviewand corrective action can be taken.

  • Suggesting improvements and being active in the general improvement of all systems and methods of work to ensureEHSQSsupports activities and services are carried out in a safe, environmentally responsible, reliable, and cost-effective manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Champion and lead the overall site environmental and safety program

  • Develop andestablishan effective EHS program that will yield year-on-year improvements

  • Work with site managementand corporate EHS to create/develop a strong safety culture at all levels of theVan Buren site organization

  • Lead process safety management (PSM) anddust hazards analysis (DHA)complianceactivities

  • Providetechnicalassistanceinhelping with hazardelimination, prevention, andmitigation and the resolution of other safety issues

  • Coach andassistmanager/leaders in the development and implementation of effective safety program

  • Assis andparticipatewith department and site-wide safety teams

  • Inspect, audit, and monitor equipment, work areas and work practices and procedures for compliance with established health and safety rules andregulations

  • Lead the efforts to ensure action items stemming from incidents, near misses,audits, inspections, and observations areprioritizedand followed up to completion

  • Developsafetytraining, policy development, and safety promotion

  • Develop and help administer e-learning courses

  • Assistwith new and modified processes, equipment, product developmentto ensure safety is included at all levels of design through implementation

  • Participate in safety and industrial hygiene reviews, routine safetyinspectionsand incident investigations, makingappropriate recommendations

  • Assistwith the contract safety program

  • Maintainaccurateplant safety statistics, incident rates, progress againstcorporate andplantobjectivesand provide routine updates to global safetyutilizingthe safety data management system

  • Participate in the Tate & Lyle Solutions network committee meetings and be the conduit for communication and information between the committee

  • Lead the roll out of new committee initiatives at the plant

  • Develop the budget for the site safety costcenter and manage spending to stay within budget

  • Work with local area safety professionals to share ideas within the VanBuren community andparticipatein drills and emergency response

  • Prepare andsubmitall the environmentalregulatory reports to the city of Van Buren and Arkansas DEQ

  • Receive environment inspections and audits from the City of Van Buren and the EPA

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Education (Candidate mustpossesseither)

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrialor businessmanagement

  • Minimumof 5 years’ experienceworking in an industrial EHS program

  • Experiencein conducting safety investigations

  • Havestrongcommunication, interpersonal, and observation skills

  • Extremely knowledgeable of OSHA, DOT, NFPA, EPA, DEQand other governmental regulations

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong leadership,training, and organizationalskills

  • Proficient in the technology usedfor environmental aspects

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite,SAPand/or other software
