About the Role

The EHS Intern will support Voltava’s Environmental, Health, and Safety team in helping maintain a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible manufacturing environment. This hands-on internship provides exposure to day-to-day safety practices, environmental compliance, training coordination, incident investigation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The intern will work closely with team members across the facility to strengthen EHS programs, promote employee engagement, and gain practical experience in safety systems and regulatory compliance.

What You Will Do

  • Support daily environmental, health, and safety activities through clear communication, teamwork, and follow-up.
  • Assist with the development, coordination, and delivery of EHS training programs for team members and new hires.
  • Participate in workplace safety observations, audits, and facility walkthroughs; document findings and help track corrective actions.
  • Assist with incident reporting, injury and illness investigations, data collection, and preparation of EHS reports.
  • Support safety countermeasures, emergency preparedness activities, evacuation drills, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Help maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental and safety requirements.
  • Participate in Safety Team meetings and assist with tracking action items, recommendations, and follow-up activities.
  • Assist with chemical awareness, chemical inventory monitoring, hazardous waste handling, recycling programs, and pollution prevention efforts.
  • Support environmental reporting and documentation related to land, air, water, hazardous waste, and ISO 14001 activities.
  • Maintain accurate EHS records, files, training documentation, and related program materials.

What You Need To Be Successful:

  • Basic understanding of environmental, health, and safety principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with team members at all levels.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities while following through on commitments.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and comfortable taking initiative with appropriate guidance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to organize information, analyze data, and support reporting needs.
  • Commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and supporting a positive team member experience.

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Previous internships, coursework, or exposure to manufacturing or safety-related environments is a plus.
  • Automotive manufacturing interest or experience preferred but not required.

Education

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
