Job Description

The EHS/Facilities Coordinator is responsible for supporting and maintaining the company’s environmental, health, safety, and facility operations programs. This position helps ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, and facility maintenance standards and promotes a safe, clean and efficient workplace environment. The EHS/Facilities Coordinator will work closely with management, department leads, and employees to support safety initiatives, maintain necessary documentation, and to oversee facility maintenance, repairs and projects. Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects.

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2-5 Years of proven experience in environmental, health, and safety, Facilities Management, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulatory requirements.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 environments.
  • Conscientious and responsible
  • A keen eye for detail and a result driven approach
  • Ability to be objective and offer recommendations and to set priorities.
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Capable of performing classroom training
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods and risk assessment
  • Must be proficient with high and low voltage electric, plumbing, HVAC and general construction methods and repairs (welding a plus)
  • Reading architectural construction blueprints and specifications including plumbing, electric, HVAC
  • Trouble shooting of complex industrial equipment including air dryers, compressors, chillers.
  • Coordinating, managing, and inspecting contractors to complete work per contract specifications.

Education and Experience:

  • 2-5 Years of Proven experience in environmental, health, and safety, Facilities Management, or related field.
  • Associated degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supports MPI lean culture and initiatives by attending and participating in daily lean meetings while supporting efforts to make continuous improvements throughout MPI.
  • Administer the current Safety Program. Continuously monitor on-site safety risks, develop a plan to address gaps and monitor effectiveness of the Safety Program.
  • Perform evaluations for PPE requirements for all work types/roles in the company.
  • Plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), NYS Dept. of Labor (NYSDOL) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Maintains the development, evaluation and upgrading of all safety programs.
  • Determines training requirements. Supports HR with scheduling of testing needed for compliance with Hearing Conservation Program and Respiratory Program.
  • Ensure all training requirements are met. This may include conducting employee training and working with contractors and suppliers to provide training.
  • Strive for a continuous review of training needs and work towards continuous improvement of our tracking, completion, and documentation of company training needs.
  • Responsibility to maintain all documentation required to support compliance and measure effectiveness.
  • Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective actions or preventive measures were indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Lead Safety Committee meetings with actions that enhance MPI’s safety programs. This includes monthly walkthroughs with set agendas of improvements.
  • Monitor the workplace to ensure employees follow safety protocols in all departments.
  • Conduct post-accident investigations and prepare reports identifying accident causes and risks and corrective actions for use by company personnel and management.
  • Ensure safety signage and postings are current and properly displayed.
  • Coordinate emergency evacuation drills.
  • Review and certify LOTO procedures annually.
  • Work with Department Leads and Managers to support continuous improvement.

Facilities:

  • Responsible for following and promoting all plant safety rules / regulations and best practices.
  • Responsible for keeping the overall facility, plant utilities, equipment and systems maintained and in a state of continual operational readiness.
  • Monitor building systems including HVAC, chillers, air compressors, lighting, plumbing, fire protection and security systems.
  • Work with outside vendors and contractors for building maintenance projects and services.
  • Maintain facility service records and outside service contracts.
  • Manage waste disposal services, snow removal services, landscaping and pest control.
  • Must be well versed in use of power tools and test equipment.
  • Plan and schedule all maintenance activities and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies. Update PM schedule as needed and ensure all PM activities are executed according to schedule.
  • Any other duties that are deemed necessary by management.
