The EHS Engineer is responsible for supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Process Safety Management (PSM) programs across the Cairo Site. The role ensures compliance with local regulations, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, IFF corporate requirements, and applicable process safety standards while promoting a strong safety culture, environmental sustainability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. The EHS Engineer partners with operations, maintenance, quality, and contractors to identify hazards, assess and reduce operational and process safety risks, support Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Management of Change (MOC) activities, improve environmental performance, and maintain a safe, compliant, and reliable workplace.

Safety Leadership & Culture
Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, coaching, and awareness initiatives.
Support site EHS policies, procedures, and standards.
Lead safety campaigns, observations, and employee engagement activities.
Support Safety Committee initiatives and action plans.
Drive continuous improvement of site safety performance.
Risk Management & Compliance
Conduct workplace risk assessments and Job Safety Analyses (JSA).
Perform EHS inspections, audits, and workplace evaluations.
Ensure compliance with local regulations and IFF EHS requirements.
Track corrective and preventive actions and ensure timely closure.
Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
Support Management of Change (MOC) activities and safety reviews for new projects.
Process & Contractor Safety
Support the site Process Safety Management (PSM) program and continuous improvement initiatives.
Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), including What-If, LOPA, Bow-Tie, HAC, and ATEX assessments.
Support MOC, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and process safety reviews.
Lead or support investigations of process safety incidents and near misses.
Administer contractor safety programs, inductions, audits, and compliance activities.
Support permit-to-work and contractor control processes.
Incident Investigation & Emergency Preparedness
Lead and support incident investigations and root cause analyses.
Develop and track corrective and preventive actions.
Identify trends and recommend improvement initiatives.
Coordinate emergency drills and support Emergency Response Team activities.
Conduct inspections of fire protection and emergency equipment.
Ensure emergency preparedness compliance and readiness.
Environmental & Sustainability Management
Support environmental compliance and sustainability programs.
Coordinate waste management, recycling, and waste reduction initiatives.
Support Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWL) objectives and certification requirements.
Monitor environmental performance indicators, including energy, water, and waste metrics.
Support environmental permits, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Training & Performance Monitoring
Deliver EHS training programs and employee inductions.
Develop safety awareness campaigns and communications.
Maintain training records and competency matrices.
Track and report EHS performance metrics and KPIs.
Prepare reports and presentations for site leadership.
Support internal and external audits and recommend improvement opportunities.
What Makes You the Right Fit
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
3-5 years of EHS experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent certification.
Experience implementing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
Strong communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
How Would You Stand Out?
Experience within manufacturing, chemical, food, flavors, pharmaceutical, or FMCG industries.
Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).
Knowledge of What-If Analysis, LOPA, Bow-Tie, HAC, and ATEX methodologies.
