Job Description

The Role

As an EHS Engineer, you will be responsible for protecting the health, safety, and environmental well‑being of the plant workforce. This role ensures compliance with applicable governmental regulations, corporate policies, and international standards while maintaining and continuously improving the Environmental, Health & Safety programs across the site. Your work directly supports risk reduction, regulatory compliance, and a strong safety culture.

What You’ll Do (Impact Areas)

  • Administer occupational health, safety, environmental, and ergonomics programs in alignment with Clarios Operating System and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Support the implementation of risk reduction initiatives and environmental, health, and safety improvement projects.
  • Apply Clarios best practices and support improvements related to SPIs and potentially severe events.
  • Educate, train, and engage production personnel and supervisors on safe work practices, PPE, housekeeping, and standard procedures.
  • Support medical surveillance and biological monitoring programs according to OSHA standards and company policies.
  • Manage PPE, workwear, and safety equipment programs according to company standards and budget.
  • Administer the respiratory protection program, including fit testing, equipment distribution, cleaning, disinfection, and ventilation audits.
  • Analyze EHS data to identify risks and develop effective prevention, control, and mitigation programs.
  • Coordinate EHS training programs with the site training coordinator.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations applicable to operations.
  • Maintain legal and company EHS records, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and confidentiality.
  • Manage hazard communication programs, including SDS systems, chemical inventories, and related training.
  • Audit LOTO implementation and work with operations and support areas to ensure continuous safety compliance.
  • Support risk assessments, safe operating procedures, and incident investigations.
  • Perform EHS audits and observations per the established program.
  • Support regulatory inspections and interact with government authorities as required.
  • Work overtime or outside regular shifts when required to meet internal or external requirements.

What You Bring (Qualifications)

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Industrial Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering, or related field.

Experience

  • Previous experience in industrial safety and EHS roles within manufacturing environments.

Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Mexican regulations (STPS, SSA, SEMARNAT).
  • ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Occupational health, industrial hygiene, and environmental compliance programs.
  • Hazard communication, SDS systems, and chemical management.
  • Incident investigation and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legal compliance (emissions, air quality, water use and discharge).

Languages

  • English proficiency: ~80%.

Additional Requirements

  • Availability for overtime or off‑shift work as required.
  • Willingness to travel (~20%).
  • Ability to use respiratory protection equipment when required.
  • No relocation required.
