Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator

Location
Vandalia, Ohio

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for supporting and coordinating Adare’s EHS programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role promotes a safe and environmentally responsible workplace by assisting with training, inspections, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:
• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS policies, procedures, and programs
• Assist with ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements
• Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments; track and follow up on corrective actions
• Assist in incident, accident, and near miss investigations and help identify root causes and preventive measures
• Maintain accurate EHS records, logs, permits, and documentation (e.g., OSHA 300 logs, training records, corrective action tracking, medical surveillance)
• Coordinate and track EHS training for employees, contractors, and new hires
• Support hazardous waste management programs, including proper handling, storage, and disposal
• Maintain PPE and safety supply inventory including support of prescription eyewear and safety shoe programs
• Schedule and support medical surveillance vendors for annual respiratory clearance and hearing monitoring
• Participate in emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response activities
• Serve as a point of contact for employee safety questions and concerns
• Assist with monitoring environmental metrics and supporting sustainability initiatives
• Support internal and external EHS audits and regulatory inspections
• Collaborate with operations, facilities, HR, and leadership to promote a strong safety culture

Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field, or equivalent combined technical training and experience
• 1+ years of experience in an EHS or safety-related role preferred
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and basic environmental compliance requirements
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross functional team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• OSHA 30-Hour Certification (preferred, not required)
• ASP, CSP, or other relevant safety certifications (preferred, not required)

Physical Requirements:
The employee is required to:
• stand, walk, push, pull, twist, reach overhead, and bend to the floor
• The employee may be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including respiratory protection during certain phases of the operation; such as high noise areas from machinery, exposure to a variety of chemicals, or exposure to dust, mists, and fumes.

• Requires reading precision measuring equipment, machine dials, gages, and thermometers; must be able to observe fine details utilizing a microscope.

• Must have steady hands and good physical coordination in order to handle delicate laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
