In addition, you advise on regulatory compliance, support investment projects, and represent the department during audits and inspections.

Welcome to the team

You work closely with production teams and SHE specialists across the site to promote a strong safety culture. The role covers a broad range of SHE topics, including process and machine safety, ergonomics, hazardous substances, PPE, and organizational safety improvement, helping to embed a safety-first mindset throughout the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in projects as a SHE knowledge expert, ensuring regulatory compliance and anticipating future legislative and regulatory developments.
  • Train, coach, and support employees to ensure awareness of SHE requirements and compliance with internal standards and regulations.
  • Monitor SHE performance through reporting and key performance indicators, and initiate improvement actions where required.
  • Represent the department during internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory visits, ensuring timely follow-up of observations and findings.
  • Participate in the SHE on-call duty roster for SHE-related incidents and unannounced audits (approximately one week every two months).

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical, biopharmaceutical, or safety-related discipline; a diploma in Advanced Safety Engineering (Hogere Veiligheidskunde/ HVK) is preferred. If not yet obtained, completion of this qualification will be part of the role.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) role, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in operational environments and strong knowledge of Safety, GMP, and Lean principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and effectively prioritize activities in a dynamic environment.
  • Broad understanding of SHE-related topics and the ability to quickly adapt to diverse safety challenges.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a strong drive for Lean improvement and process simplification.
  • Holistic thinking skills, enabling balanced decision-making and prioritization across multiple stakeholders and objectives.
