Summary:
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year of administrative or clerical experience is required. One year of environmental health experience is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of standard office practices and clerical procedures, including filing, recordkeeping, and document organization methods used to support office operations. Familiarity with basic Environmental Health Services (EHS) terminology used in technical reports and correspondence is preferred. Candidates must possess strong typing and data entry skills with the ability to produce a variety of documents. Proficiency in the use of computers and standard office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and other commonly used programs, is required. Applicants must possess current CPR (BLS Provider) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross. Certification may obtained within 90 days of employment. The EHS Clerk will provide administrative and clerical support to the Environmental Health Services (EHS) Department. The main duties include maintaining accurate EHS records, files and documentation. Typical tasks will include typing, data entry, filing, and office support such as answering phones, scheduling meetings and managing correspondence. Must be able to work with the Indian community, and be sensitive to the Indian Culture and its needs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records, files, logs and documentation for all EHS programs.
- Perform data entry, prepare reports, and update databases to ensure information is current and complete.
- Answer phone calls, take and route messages, provide basic information to callers, internal staff, or any in-person visitors.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and departmental activities.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including email and mail.
- Assist EHS staff with administrative tasks including document formatting, filing, and record keeping.
- Maintain office supplies, organize work areas, and support daily office operations.
- Orders a variety of materials, supplies and equipment as instructed.
- Assists with the procuring of bids and other information pertaining to environmental health projects.
- Other duties as assigned relevant to the position, with relevant training and competency assessment documented.
- This position requires working weekends and evenings, if needed.
QualificationsEducation:

Must understand or be willing to receive Native American Cultural competency training and employ cultural awareness with our Native American Community.
Ability to:
Type, format, and create various EHS documents including informational brochures, fliers, reports, and other department documents as needed. Excellent speaking, writing, and reading skills utilizing proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation to edit, create, or proofread a variety of written materials. Able to quickly adapt and learn in a fast paced environment. Must be able to work with the Indian Community, and be sensitive to the Indian culture and its needs.
Physical Demands:
Walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing up to 30 pounds.

$21.00 per hour ($43,680 Annually)
