Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$25.000 - $27.640 - $30.490

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.


What You Will Do
Assures that document imaging functions are completed accurately and in a timely manner. General responsibilities include prepping, indexing, and scanning of medical records for both in-house and discharged patients. Position also provides support for other HIM functions such as customer service (i.e. answering phone, record retrieval for patient care, physician chart completion), as needed. Provide work assignment to the team, review incorrect scanned documents, and share information and/or tips/tricks with the team for educational opportunities. Identify new forms and/or un-barcoded forms and following through with Management to ensure the correct form is utilized in the clinical areas.

Required Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent


Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 Year Health Information Management.
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) -PREFERRED

  • Quality

    Performs the PaperLite/Point of Care scanning process in an accurate manner as per PaperLite/Point of Care scanning process procedure.
    Utilizes the Universal Chart Order (UCO) to verify the forms, as needed.
    Maintains Hospital Forms Reference Binder(s) and/or Universal Chart Order (UCO) for the Document Imaging team.
    Verifies all of the keywords during the scanning and indexing processes.
    Performs quality check and reviews scanned image to the original document to assure legibility/accuracy and ensures the right patient identification labels are visible on each page prior to indexing.
    As images are reviewed, correct rotation, delete duplicates, delete blank pages, rescan skewed, poor quality images, and/or re-indexing the Document Type, as needed.
    Understands the regulatory requirements (e.g., history/physical - within 24 hours/within 30 days of admission) to assure the right documents are part of the permanent medical records.
    Has 20 or less Major errors (not scanned and/or wrong patients)
    Obtains at least an average of 85% or more on competency tests, as implemented.
    Utilizes the 'Do Not Use' and/or re-indexing functionalities accurately, as needed.
    Utilizes the Cerner App Chart Tracking system accurately, per procedure.
    Ensures that all discharges are picked up daily, follows up on any missing discharges, including the patient type change and/or account cancellation, and escalates issues to Management, as appropriate.
    Initiates and follows through on open Helpdesk tickets for identified issues, as needed.
    Addresses the Behavior Standard issues with co-workers, as needed.
  • Productivity
    Meets established productivity requirements for assigned areas to fulfill the expectations of the department.
    Performs the PaperLite/Point of Care scanning process within the time frame allowed.
    Preps documents for scanning as per record processing (prepping, scanning, and indexing) process.
    Picks up discharges and/or outpatient services and follows up on missing discharges, as per assignment.
    Monitors daily workloads to assure that productivity expectations are met.
    Indexes at least 450+ pages daily.
    Submits productivity report monthly and/or by designated date in a timely manner to include written justifications for variations, as applicable.

    Be able to perform scanning processes at 1-2 Sharp entities and demonstrates sufficient knowledge for full coverage.
