**PRN Position**
BASIC PURPOSE Prepares patients and assists Neurologist in all technical aspects of EEG testing. Performs EEG as needed by the department/facility. Assists with EEG reporting processing and all department functions.
Prepares patients for EEG test; obtains patient history and any contraindications, explains testing techniques, applies electrodes; performs EEG testing as needed by department and facility; maintains safety and infection control measures
Coordinates and prepares EEG for interpretation by neurologist; communicates with neurologist on all aspects of testing and references required
Attends departmental and quality assurance meetings according to departmental needs; maintains accurate departmental records and files for EEG; assists in departmental performance improvement efforts; maintains clinical competencies and credentials and participates in accreditation efforts as required by governing bodies
Serves as a preceptor to new employees
Prepares completed studies for physician interpretation; performs 24 hour ambulatory EEG studies as requested by the physician and prepares completed studies for scanning and physician interpretation
MINIMUM EDUCATION
Required Minimum Education:
High School Diploma/or GED
Preferred Education: 2 year/Associate Degree
Specialty/Major: Allied Health
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS (must be non-expired/active unless otherwise stated):
Required: BLS certification by end of orientation period.
Preferred: CME or ASET EEG certification
