Job Objective:
Performs electroencephalography studies on all patient populations served. Maintains communication between physicians, nursing and other departments as part of the health care delivery team Participates in Performance Improvement and Quality Assessment activities and interdisciplinary teams as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned. Education:
Required: On the job trainee with two (2) years experience
Preferred: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or graduate from an accredited JCRTE program for Electroencephalographic Technologist or graduate from an AMA or JCRTE approved program for Respiratory Therapy

Required: American Heart Association BLS

Required: On the job training candidates two (2) years experience in a Sleep Disorders Center
Preferred: Hospital experience post graduation from an accredited JCRTE program for Electroencephalographic Technologist or an AMA or JCRTE approved program for Respiratory Therapy Reports To: Manager, Pulmonary Physiology

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Able to stand, walk and sit four(4) hours at a time, Average vision and hearing, Good phone skills and etiquette, Proficient in the principles of electroencephalography, Proficient in the principles of Evoked Potential to include AVR, VER, SSER
Essential Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
2. Performs EEG, 24-hour Ambulatory EEG testing timely and accurately according to policy and procedure..
3. Documents and processes procedures timely and accurately according to policy and procedure..
4. Performs Evoked Potential testing timely and accurately according to policy and procedure..
5. Completes paperwork , cleans electrodes and maintains a clean work area timely and accurately according to policy and procedure..
6. Ensures patients are comfortable and assists patients as needed.
7. Assists the department during downtime by answering phones, photocopying records, faxing, and distributing correspondence.
8. Assists physicians and with transport of patients willingly and without being prompted.
9. Participates in activities, which results in professional and department growth.
10. Able to appropriately prepare the patient’s room and equipment for the electroencephalography study.
11. Able to prepare to prepare the patient for electroencephalography study.
12. Maintains a clean work area.
13. Able to document and process procedures on a daily basis in the department records.
14. Process billing charges or credits as assigned.
15. Demonstrates the care and operation of equipment used in the Neurology Department according to technical specifications and application of equipment.
16. Maintains clean, well-stocked equipment with supplies and “in good working order “ after each shift.
17. Participates in department’s performance improvement and quality assessment programs.
18. Reports any unsafe or mal-functioning equipment to the appropriate personnel and takes the necessary step in processing reported equipment.
19. Ability to organize the workload and set priorities to meet time requirements.
20. Cultivates positive interpersonal relations with physicians, coworkers and other staff members.
21. Demonstrates adaptability to working overtime and/or altering work schedule when necessary to provide patient care.
22. Self-sufficient in seeking resource; may have specialized skills; demonstrates significant problem solving skills in the clinical setting.
23. Complies with policies; uses discretion and follows through with areas of concern.
24. Adheres to hospital infection control guidelines, body mechanics and safety, equipment usage and care.
25. Maintains a high productivity level.
26. Performs other duties as requested.
