Duties and Responsibilities (* denotes essential functions):
- *Provide individual consultation and support to Manoa faculty on course design, learning outcomes, assessment strategies, accessibility, and effective use of instructional technology, primarily for online delivery.
- *Design, develop, and lead faculty development workshops and training sessions using evidence-based pedagogy, inclusive teaching practices, and instructional technology integration, tailored to UH Manoa's campus needs.
- *Collaborate with faculty to design, develop, and provide feedback on curriculum materials, courses, and programs to support effective, inclusive, and accessible teaching and learning.
- *Create and update faculty-facing job aids and templates in collaboration with instructional design colleagues and campus partners. Organize and maintain a centralized Manoa instructional design resource library website for faculty use.
- *Create and edit basic multimedia content to support faculty training and course development including short video tutorials, screencasts, simple graphics and other visual assets for faculty-facing resources.
- Maintain current knowledge of research and best practices in teaching and learning for adult learners, online course design, learning outcomes assessment, accessibility and inclusive teaching practices, and emerging educational technologies and incorporate findings through presentations, workshops, and internal resources.
- Promote effective use of educational technologies and digital tools (e.g., learning management systems, multimedia authoring and accessibility tools), and provide related training and support to faculty.
- Collaborate with other Manoa units (e.g., libraries, academic departments, existing faculty-support offices) and instructional designers to coordinate instructional design services and strengthen collaboration across the campus.

Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in educational technology, instructional design, curriculum development, education or related field and three (3) year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities in instructional design or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of instructional design, online learning and/or higher education as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with higher education and online learning.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing and use of spreadsheet software.
- If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
Supplemental Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Google Suite, Learning Management Systems, Zoom, and other technology tools associated with education.
- Flexibility to pivot quickly to meet changing priorities and needs.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to follow procedures.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in educational technology, instructional design, curriculum development, education, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating professional development or training sessions.
- Experience with video editing and/or website design.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Experience teaching higher education.
- Experience with curriculum alignment frameworks (e.g., backward design, Native Hawaiian Place of Learning, OSCQR).
- Experience with accessibility standards, practices, and tools for online learning (e.g., WCAG)
- Experience with photography, video, podcasting, or other multimedia content creation.
