In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Educational Services Specialist Assistant is responsible for the use of the educational process, education standards, policy and procedure, and principles of adult learning to assist in program and education content creation. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

Job Functions:

  1. Assists education specialists with learning needs, planning and developing education, implementing, and evaluating education based on needs for physicians; nursing and other hospital staff for MMH, Selby, and Sistersville; assist in obtaining contact hours.
  2. Assists in formulation of education programs and/or curriculums in response to the strategic needs of the Memorial Health System; quality and patient outcome data; regulatory standards and annual needs assessment.
  3. Communicates and collaborates with physicians, nursing, clinical and non-clinical departments to assist the specialist in developing appropriate education based on evidence based best practice. Works closely with education specialists to evaluate the impact of education on patient outcomes, staff, and quality metrics. Ensures staff are prepared for go-live.
  4. Assist education specialist in preparing and reconciling reports, maintaining records pertinent to regulatory agencies, educational programs and departmental operations.
  5. Assist education specialists to ensure the standards of the American Heart Association programs, TNCC, NRP, Stroke ACHC accreditation, the RQI system, and other accrediting agencies are upheld. Assist maintaining compliance in RQI system. Participate as an instructor or course director for AHA, TNCC, or NRP programs and maintain teaching status.
  6. Collaborates with department or unit-based educators in the development of education and programs.
  7. Assist with the onboarding and orientation of employees across the health system and development of initial and annual competencies (primarily MMH, Selby, Sistersville, and physician clinics).
  8. Assist in the support of NetLearning & Lippincott Advisor and Procedure, and simulation within the Educational Department and for the organization by maintaining a thorough understanding of the software and utilizing additional software to enhance education of the staff.
  9. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.



Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Current Licensure in the State of Ohio as a Registered Nurse; Master’s Degree in Nursing, Education, Information Technology, or other healthcare related field required.
  • Experience with training, learning design and development, e-learning concepts, tools, and instructional design knowledge is preferred.
  • Must be able to adapt and handle multiple projects with different priority levels.
  • Minimum of 3 years of healthcare, educational, or informational technology experience required.
  • BLS Certification required.

Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:

  • Excellent speaking and writing skills; Ability to use various A/V equipment and computer programs.
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of basic statistics.

Compensation Details: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
