EDUCATIONAL LIAISONUniversity of Alabama at Birmingham The Educational Liaison serves as the primary community-based connection between the N.E.X.T. EMS program, the Pediatric Prevention Network (PPN), participants, rural schools, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, community partners, and EMS agencies. The liaison recruits and supports participants pursuing EMT and AEMT pathways, monitors educational and certification progress, addresses barriers to completion, and connects participants with training, clinical, mentoring, and employment opportunities. The position also supports PPN community engagement, pediatric emergency and disaster preparedness, and outreach initiatives within rural and underserved communities. Embedded within the communities served, the Educational Liaison develops local partnerships and provides individualized support to strengthen participant recruitment, retention, certification attainment, workforce placement, and the long-term growth of the rural EMS workforce.General ResponsibilitiesServes as an educational liaison and provides oversight for various projects initiated by internal organizations or departments.Related activities may include recruiting, establishing relationships, and making presentations to various internal departments and external organizations.Develops and submits an annual plan for outreach activities.Conducts department specific outreach meetings.Assists in developing proposals for projects.Develops and revises educational materials for departments, vendors and the community.In conjunction with the Director, develops and reviews mini surveys to solicit input related to training and core curriculum effectiveness. Maintains updated educational information on departmental website.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesServes as an Educational Liaison for projects initiated by an internal organization. This could include recruiting, establishing relationships, and making presentations with various internal departments and external organizations.Implements and designs programs with internal and external organizations.Represents UAB at external events.Conducts department-specific outreach meetings.Serves in a leadership role in expanding distance learning opportunities, in audio and video conferencing and other broadcast mediums.Assists in developing proposals for projects as needed.Develops educational materials for departments, vendors and the community.Develops and reviews mini surveys to solicit input related to training and core curriculum effectiveness.Performs other duties as assigned.Additional DutiesRecruit prospective N.E.X.T. EMS participants from rural and medically underserved communities.Serve as a consistent point of contact for assigned program participants throughout their participation in N.E.X.T. EMS.Monitor participant enrollment, attendance, academic progress, training completion, certification milestones, and other indicators of program progression. Conduct regular participant check-ins and identify academic, transportation, financial, personal, or logistical barriers that may interfere with successful program participation.Educate prospective participants, families, school personnel, and community stakeholders about N.E.X.T. EMS eligibility requirements, educational opportunities, participant expectations, available support services, and EMS career pathways.Conduct outreach through high schools, community colleges, career and technical education programs, community organizations, EMS agencies, and other community-based partners.Facilitate Community-Based Disaster Preparedness Workshops within Black Belt communities.Participate in program meetings, trainings, recruitment events, community engagement activities, site visits, and workforce development events. Professionally represent N.E.X.T. EMS and the PPN within assigned communities and support the development of sustainable relationships with rural Alabama communities.Perform other duties as assigned.Salary Range: $52,555-$85,400

Qualifications

EducationBachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required.Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.Licenses / Certifications / RegistrationsCurrently licensed with a Driver's License from the State of Alabama required.
