Job Description

Solterra Academy provides comprehensive special education for students aged 5 to 22 requiring intensive intervention due to severe emotional, behavioral, cognitive, developmental, and/or learning challenges. Are you passionate about supporting students through individualized assessment and educational planning? Solterra Academy is seeking an Educational Diagnostician to conduct educational evaluations, support IEP development, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure students receive appropriate educational programming and interventions within a therapeutic school setting.

School Year Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (In-Person)
Mandatory Summer Session: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM (In-Person)

BA Level Candidate Starting Salary: $60,000 - $75,000

MA Level Candidate Starting Salary: $64,000 - $90,278

Responsibilities

  • Conduct educational evaluations per PPT recommendations, including reviewing background information, selecting appropriate assessments, administering testing, interpreting data, and preparing comprehensive reports.
  • Present educational data at individual student team meetings and at PPTs as needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely evaluation documentation and reports in accordance with PPT deadlines.
  • Build positive and therapeutic relationships with students.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all interactions with students and families.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from an accredited college or university required
  • Master’s Degree with emphasis in learning disabilities and assessments preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experience in special education with an emphasis in educational assessment highly preferred
  • Some experience working with students with emotional/behavioral needs required
  • Valid CT 165 certification from the CT State Department of Education required

Solterra Academy is a therapeutic day program providing comprehensive special education services to students, ages 5 to 21, who require intensive intervention due to emotional, behavioral, cognitive, developmental, and/or learning problems. Disabilities served include: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Developmental Disabilities, Emotional Disturbance, Intellectual Disabilities, Multiple Disabilities, Specific Learning Disabilities, Traumatic Brain Injury and Other Health Impairments. The school is designed to provide a high level of structure and support, as well as an integrated array of services to address each child’s unique profile.
