Educational Assistant - Transportation (SPED)Responsible for monitoring special education students with moderate to severe needs and challenging or emotional difficulties on school buses. Assists with securing wheelchairs and other equipment. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community members and school clientele.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to clear forty-two (42) inch exit door
• Frequent lifting twenty (20) to fifty (50) pounds
• Frequent sitting, bending, squatting, stooping
• Frequent pushing and pulling of up to two hundred fifty (250) pound wheelchair
• Occasional reaching, kneeling
--- Perform appropriate record keeping, including accounting for Medicaid and ZPass forms.
--- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections.
--- Effectively monitor students on bus for behavior, special assistance, and emergency intervention; intervene and handle escalated behavior.
--- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
--- Communicate with parents and other school personnel as needed.
--- Assist in instruction, documentation, behavior support, medical and health needs of each student.
--- Maintain proper equipment and materials on bus for care of students with moderate and severe needs.
CPI - DCSD, First Aid/CPR Certification - Colorado, Special Needs Certification - Certified Care
High School or Equivalent (Required)
Able to read and understand Behavior and Health Care Plans.
