Educational Assistant ILunch/Cafe Assistant
Hourly Schedule M/Tu/Th/F 10:45am-1:15pm, and W 10:45am-12:45pm
Monitoring student behavior:
Lunchroom assistants supervise students during meals and recess, ensuring a safe and respectful atmosphere. Support students as they transition to recess from the lunchroom.
Enforcing rules and procedures:
They remind students of cafe rules, address minor behavioral issues, and refer more serious problems to teachers or administrators.
Maintaining a clean and organized environment:
They ensure tables are clean and the cafeteria is generally tidy.
Assisting with student needs:
This includes opening food containers, helping with utensils, and dismissing students to the bathroom or nurse's office when needed.
Encouraging positive behaviors:
Promote good table manners, encourage students to clean up after themselves, and model appropriate behavior.
Communicating with staff and students:
They maintain positive communication with both students and other staff members.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Occasional lifting, five (5) to fifty (50) pounds
• Ability to stand/walk for ninety (90) minutes
• Ability to run short distances
• Frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, kneeling, crawling, squatting, reaching, and sitting
--- Assist teachers with classroom assignments for the purpose of supporting teachers in the instructional process.
--- Assist students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts and assisting students in reaching academic goals and grade level standards.
--- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
--- Administer minor first aid for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs.
--- Mediate student conflicts to ensure a safe educational environment.
--- Report observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g. accidents, fights, appropriate and inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.
--- Perform general clerical tasks for the purpose of assisting teachers with instructional material.
--- Monitor individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, library, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
--- Maintain instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/ for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, and/or meeting mandated requirements.
