Educational Assistant (Chinese Language)

Contract Period: 2 November – 11 December 2026 (Temporary)

Kennedy School is seeking a dedicated Educational Assistant (Chinese Language) to inspire and empower our diverse community of learners. In this role, you will work closely with teachers to support classroom learning, lead small group activities, and assist with key administrative and preparation tasks.

Responsibilities

• Build strong, trusting relationships with students to foster a safe, inclusive environment where they feel confident taking risks in their learning.
• Partner with classroom teachers to guide students on their learning journeys, balancing academic development with emotional resilience.
• Lead small group activities to reinforce core concepts, guide understanding, and keep students engaged and focused.
• Support students with diverse learning needs by adapting approaches and resources to ensure full classroom participation.
• Assist teachers with resource preparation, classroom organisation, and administrative tasks to maintain a smooth learning environment.
• Proactively supervise students during breaks and playground times, ensuring safety routines and procedures are followed.

Requirements:

• Strong written and spoken command of Chinese, with a working proficiency in English.
• Sound behaviour management skills and a positive approach to guiding young learners.
• Collaborative mindset with a strong commitment to working as part of a team.
• Flexible, adaptable, and proactive in taking initiative when unexpected needs arise.
• An eagerness to learn and respond constructively to feedback.

Experience

• Previous experience working with primary aged children (5-11 years) is highly advantageous.

The successful applicant will be offered a temporary full-time contract on a term-time basis.

Applicants must be a permanent Hong Kong resident or possess a valid visa to work in Hong Kong.

About the Team

ESF Kennedy School occupies a pleasant location on the west of Hong Kong Island. It benefits from the use of the swimming and sporting facilities of The University of Hong Kong’s Stanley Ho Sports Centre, which is adjacent to the school. Music, Performing Arts and Physical Education are strengths of the school. A strong interest in environmental and ecological issues is also a theme of the learning.

All children receive regular swimming lessons in terms one and three. The school provides daily Mandarin lessons for all students and also offers a very rich and varied extra-curricular programme.
