Educational Aide - Recess/Lunch - 2.5 hours/daily

Position Summary

Independence Local Schools is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-centered Educational Aide to provide supervision and support for students during lunch and recess. The successful candidate will help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment while encouraging appropriate student behavior and positive interactions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate required.
  • Valid Ohio Educational Aide Permit (or ability to obtain through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce).
  • Successful completion of all required background checks.
  • Experience supervising elementary-aged students (Kindergarten through Grade 4).
  • Ability to foster a positive, collaborative, and respectful environment.
  • Clerical and basic computer skills are a plus.
  • Ability to effectively supervise students in a school setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Active listening skills.
  • Patience, compassion, and understanding when working with children.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, and an exemplary work ethic.

Work Schedule/Compensation

  • 2.5 hours per day
  • 188 school days, as defined by the district calendar
  • Additional time may be required for meetings, professional development, or school events.
  • Hourly rate of $16.37-$22.65, based on qualifications and applicable experience.
