Generic Responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan.

  1. Monitor and report on the project activities and ensure compliance with plans and NRC standards
  2. Administrate volunteer teachers’ and school children’s payments and entitlements
  3. Work with the community education committees in the planning and enrolment of the activities
  4. Distribute and monitor the use of school materials according to procedures
  5. Assist the volunteer teachers in their work
  6. Suggest new methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities
  7. Report all protection related concerns
  8. Carry out data collection as required
  9. Prepare field reports
  10. Prepare and file relevant documents as required by line manager

Specific responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired, or when the context strategy changes significantly.

  • Mobilize communities and project participants to participate in education activities.
  • Participate in the planning, preparation, implementation, and follow-up of education campaigns.
  • Contribute to the development of project and thematic materials for use in Education program activities
  • Undertake data entry and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Support monitoring & evaluation activities and all report writing activities
  • Record and maintain project specific field documents according to donor and NRC specifications
  • Maintains a strong work-relation with communities, education committees and implementing partners
  • Support Education Officer and community-based workers to conduct education needs assessments and surveys.
  • Facilitate trainings such as gender, climate changes, life skills, instructing skills, teaching and learning methodologies, classroom management and psychosocial support as assigned by the line manager.
  • Conduct community consultations and facilitate the formation and strengthening of PTAs and School Improvement Committees (SICs) to encourage community participation in education activities.
  • Assist to the community-based workers for the field implementation in line with the tasks assigned by the line manager.
  • Support all budgeting, accounting and administration tasks of education activities
  • Support the Education Officer in providing translation as necessary
  • Abide by all standard NRC security protocols when circulating in the field and encourage team members to do the same.
  • All other tasks not mentioned above that might be requested to improve and support the program
  • Scan and archive all documents related to financial, procurement and program needs

Generic professional competencies

  • At least 2 years of experience from working with education projects in a humanitarian context/recovery
  • BA degree or equivalent preferred. Relevant experience necessary.
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fair English and Computer skills

Context related skills, knowledge and experience

  • Good administrative, accounting and reporting skills.
  • Good Computer skills/ English skills
  • Training and facilitation skills in particular
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision
  • Ability and willingness to learn/work and live under difficult circumstances
  • Flexible, creative and co-operative
