Job Description

Education Support Manager - SEND

Application Deadline: 17 July 2026

Department: Operations

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Belper - Support Centre

Reporting To: Education Director

Compensation: £56,925 / year

Our schools support young people who have often been let down by education before. As education support manager, you help make sure every one of them gives those young people the quality of education they deserve.

You work alongside the Education Director on the day-to-day running of the schools and keep a clear view of quality across the whole estate. You audit against the Independent School Standards and the Ofsted framework, coach senior leadership teams, and spot what needs to improve before it becomes a problem. You get into schools, not just spreadsheets: dip checks, learning walks and real conversations.

It is a role for someone who knows special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) education inside out and wants to raise the bar across a group of schools, not just one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Education Director with the day-to-day running of our schools
  • Report on quality assurance across the estate: teaching and learning, curriculum, behaviour, attendance and outcomes
  • Audit against the Independent School Standards and the Ofsted framework, and turn the findings into clear actions
  • Coach and support each school's senior leadership team to raise standards
  • Carry out regular dip checks, learning walks and work sampling to test quality first-hand
  • Help every school stay inspection-ready and champion a strong safeguarding culture

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Substantial experience in a SEND setting, in a senior leadership or quality assurance role
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Thorough knowledge of the Independent School Standards and the Ofsted framework
  • A track record of improving teaching, curriculum and outcomes for young people
  • A full UK driving licence, and willingness to travel across all our schools (Belper, Bedford, Congleton, Doncaster, Grantham and Shropshire), including regular overnight stays
  • An enhanced DBS check. This role is subject to our safer recruitment checks.

What we offer

  • The chance to lift the quality of education for young people who need it most
  • Salary: £56,925 per year, plus a £3,000 car allowance
  • 28 days annual leave, plus bank holidays
  • Full time, 37.5 hours per week, all year round
  • A senior, visible role working directly with the Education Director
  • Real influence across six schools and their leadership teams
  • Funded development and a clear path in a growing organisation
Esland

About Esland

At Esland, we offer care, education, and therapeutic support to 6 to 18 year olds from diverse backgrounds who have encountered a range of adverse childhood experiences.

These experiences include complex trauma and foster placement breakdowns, as well as difficulties engaging in their education setting.

The young people we support often have mental and developmental diagnoses which impact their daily functioning.

To help a young person manage these challenges we make every interaction with them therapeutic in nature.

With our support they learn how to build positive and trusting relationships, regulate their emotions and try new and positive experiences to support their transition into adulthood.

Most importantly, we put our young people at the heart of everything we do, with the dedicated support of our talented teams, partnerships, and community relationships.
