The Education Specialist I, IT Revenue Cycle is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for Revenue Cycle staff. The successful Education Specialist I will monitor, evaluate, record training sessions and determine education curriculum effectiveness. The incumbent will be responsible for assessing the training needs of co-workers and will organize, develop, or obtain new training materials and programs if the existing program does not meet organizational standards.

The Education Specialist I will present information using multiple techniques such as lecture, group discussion, role playing, recorded trainings, and elbow support. The incumbent will assist in quality control activities within the Revenue Cycle which can include the development/enhancement of audits, visuals, inspections, and assisting with the quality assurance program defined by the organization.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Implements, coordinates and/or evaluates the orientation of new staff to Revenue Cycle policies and procedures.

  • Coordinates, implements, and evaluates ongoing educational programs for Revenue Cycle staff.

  • Collects, analyzes, and/or presents data regarding orientation, education, and other activities and functions related to Quality Control and Education (QC&E).

  • Develops and modifies curriculum to fit education objectives.

  • Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interested of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED. Preferred: Associates Degree or willingness to certify with HFMA as a Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) or with NAHAM as a Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA)

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience on Cerner Revenue Cycle. Preferred: at least 2 years in an educator role or 1 year in a leadership/lead role in comparable field.

  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Word, Visio, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to use business equipment such as Webex, telephones, and any other training equipment that is essential.

Other Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proven leadership ability

  • Knowledge of complex hospital and healthcare systems, processes, and quality/performance improvement

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills

  • Effective change agent

  • Strong public speaking skills and demonstrated ability in presenting to a variety of co-workers, including support staff and administration

  • Self-directed and ability to travel throughout the hospital with limited supervision


Working Conditions
Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.

$52,300.00 - $89,500.00
