WAGE: $20.00 NEGOTIABLE NON-EXEMPT

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under direct supervision of the Education and Career Services Manager, this position supports students through the tribal financial aid process and other education programs from application to award and disbursement. The role ensures compliance with Federal/State and Tribal regulations while delivering accurate, timely, and student-focused service.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:

  1. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.
  2. Must be at least 18 years service unless otherwise stated on job description
  3. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record
  4. Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays
  5. Must obtain and maintain an elder/youth license.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tribal Financial Aid and Other Education Administration.

1. Advise applicants on eligibility requirements, deadlines, and required documentation.

2. Verify application information and resolve discrepancies in accordance with federal, tribal and institutional guidelines before processing request.

3. Monitor Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and notify students of eligibility changes.

4. Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Higher Education Institutions to ensure student information and status are accurate.

5. Initiate default process for recipients in noncompliance with the program policies.

6. Participate in outreach events, workshops, and financial literacy initiatives.

7. Maintains current changes and trends in financial aid programs and High School/College/University policies. Counsel recipients as to program requirements and follows-up periodically by telephone or letter. Regularly contact educational institution representatives and applicants.At times this may include hosting a FASFA Workshop in person or virtually.

8. Plan, organize, advertise, and execute department scholarships.

Administrative Operations

9. Conduct research to identify and resolve operational issues, recommending improvements to administrative processes.

10. Support the Education Board by preparing and posting agendas, managing Microsoft Calendar meeting invites, assembling meeting packings and handling mailings.

11. Assist with coordination and managing logistics for events, including the Annual Senior Banquet.

12. Compile data and monthly, semi, and annual reports to the Manager.

13. Establishes and maintains an effective filing and retrieval system which includes updating and maintaining the electronic student database and higher education trackers.

14. Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.

15. Manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment..

16. Required to attend job related, in-service, meetings, and training to maintain professional and technical knowledge.

17. Must adhere to tribal law and other applicable laws as well as tribal personnel policies and procedures.

18. The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position.The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. An Associate in Business, Finance, Education or a related field is required. Bachelor Degree is preferred.

2. Two (2) years of demonstrated administrative experience is required to include: records management, performing basic accounting procedures, preparing and providing reports, and utilizing spreadsheets.

3. Two (2) years of assisting and/or working with administering programs involving interaction with the public while working collaboratively and in a sensitive matter is preferred.

4. The ability to use critical thinking skills to effectively administer programs that focus on education is required.

5. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing.

6. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social, economic, and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.

7. Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner, building respect and confidence.

8. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.

9. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize objectives and responsibilities.

10. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.

11. Must adhere to strict confidentiality in all matters. (Must sign a confidentiality statement prior to employment.)

12. Must submit and pass a criminal investigation background check prior to obtain and maintain an elder/youth license during employment with the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.

13. Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.

14. Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.

15. Have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.

16. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position.

17. Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use

hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

2. The employee frequently is required to walk.

3. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

4. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

5. Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level.

6. Must complete a Self-Disclosing Physical Questionnaire prior to employment.
