Job Description

Position Function

The Education Services Coordinator provides direct academic support to youth in ACH’s residential programs, helping them build the skills, confidence, and structure needed for academic success. This role works closely with youth on tutoring, intervention, study habits, and individualized learning plans; collaborates with staff to reinforce educational expectations; and supports day-to-day communication with the partner school(s). The Coordinator also helps implement structured learning activities when school is not in session, ensuring continuity of learning for both short-term and long-term placements.

Requirements:

Education Bachelors degree in Education, Social Work, Child Development, Psychology or related field required.

ExperienceExperience in teaching tutoring, academic intervention, classroom support, youth development, or after school programming required. Experience in youth residential services strongly preferred.

Key Expectations/Responsibilities

Daily Academic Support & Tutoring:

  • Provide tutoring, homework help, intervention and skill-building support to youth individually and in small groups.
  • Reinforce study skills, time management, reading comprehension, numeracy, and other foundational academic abilities.
  • Encourage youth to stay engaged in their schoolwork and celebrate progress to build motivation

Individual Academic Plans & Progress Monitoring

  • Support academic intake screenings and assist in identifying strengths, barriers, and learning needs.
  • Implement individualized education support plans created in collaboration with the Manager of Educational Services and program leadership.
  • Track assignments, grades, attendance, and progress; notify the Manager of concerns or emerging issues.
  • Document all youth interactions, progress updates, and academic interventions.

School Communication & Support Coordination

  • Maintain day-to-day communication with teachers and school staff regarding assignments, expectations, and student needs.
  • Coordinate routine academic documentation (homework packets, grade checks, school forms).
  • Assist with school transitions including enrollment paperwork, withdrawals, and class schedule updates, under the direction of the Manager.

Structured Learning During Non-School Times

  • Deliver engaging, structured learning activities during holidays, school breaks, and other non-instructional periods.
  • Facilitate enrichment experiences that support academic readiness, life skills, and youth interests.
  • Collaborate with residential staff to ensure consistency and alignment with daily routines.

Collaboration, Training & Program Support

  • Participate in team meetings to share youth progress and emerging needs.
  • Work with residential staff to reinforce educational expectations and promote a supportive learning environment.
  • Uphold ACH’s trauma-informed care principles in all interactions.
  • Support the Manager of Educational Services in program initiatives and special projects as needed.
