We’re looking for an Education Research Analyst to lead efforts related to the psychometric and technical integrity of statewide assessment programs.

Job Duties:

As an Education Research Analyst supporting statewide assessment programs, the employee will:

  • Determines program goals and objectives to effectively develop and implement statewide assessment programs.
  • Reviews scoring and reporting processing rules for all assessments and follow up with work requirements, due dates, and schedules for deliverables.
  • Conducts technical and psychometric work for all statewide assessment programs including summative and non-­summative assessments. Technical work includes test design, standard setting , field test design , frameworks , test form construction , equating and scaling , sample selection ,test data analyses , reporting of test scores , interpretation of results , performance level descriptors ,validity studies ,evaluation studies, data forensics, technical reports, Peer Review, federal reporting, TAC meeting presentations, and review/update assessment contracts.
  • Works with test vendors to validate all psychometric procedures and ensure assessment scoring and reporting are accurate.
  • Check student-level scoring, combining, demographic summarization, student reports, school reports, media reports, and prepare data for assessment release.
  • Analyzes educational program data as it relates to assessment and accountability programs
  • Uses a variety of analytical and statistical methods and software packages to review and verity education data and reports for validity and accuracy ,and directs lower level staff in such data review/verification activities.
  • Prepares reports regarding assessment issues in response to legislative and policy makers requests.
  • Performs all other duties as directed by the supervisor


Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to report to the Baton Rouge office as requested. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.

Career Progression: This position participates in a Career Progression Group. As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Education Research Analyst 1/2/3, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.

Work Schedule: Workdays are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.


Education Research Analyst 2 (TS-311)

Hourly: $26.32 – $40.45

Monthly: $4,561.27 – $7,011.00

Annually: $54,735.20 – $84,136.00


Education Research Analyst 3 (TS-313)

Hourly: $30.13 – $46.31

Monthly: $5,221.67 – $8,027.00

Annually: $62,660.00 – $96,325.00

**Note regarding the advertised pay range: Beginning at the Education Research Analyst 1 level, this series have a special entrance rate (SER) of $22.98/hour that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire
