As an Education Loan Credit Underwriter, you will evaluate and approve educational financing applications, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while safeguarding the institution’s credit risk. You will perform detailed credit appraisals, analyzing applicant financial statements, educational cost structures, and repayment capabilities. Your role involves coordinating with disbursement teams, maintaining accurate underwriting documentation, and communicating decisions to stakeholders. You will also contribute to developing underwriting policies and improvement initiatives to enhance portfolio quality and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Conduct comprehensive credit appraisals for education loan applications.
• Analyze financial statements, income projections, and collateral valuations.
• Assess the viability of educational programs and associated cost structures.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and internal risk management guidelines.
• Prepare detailed underwriting reports and recommendation memos.
• Collaborate with collection and disbursement teams to finalize loan terms.
• Monitor existing loan performance and flag potential delinquency risks.
• Participate in policy development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of education financing regulations and market trends.
• Provide training to junior underwriters and support cross-functional projects.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝘁

• 8+ years of experience in credit underwriting or credit appraisal.
• Strong financial analysis skills with proficiency in financial modeling.
• In-depth knowledge of education loan products and related regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent risk assessment and decision-making abilities.
• Proven track record of maintaining high portfolio quality metrics.
• Outstanding analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Effective communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
