The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is an independent, non-profit biomedical research organization located in Torrance, California. In dozens of laboratories throughout the campus, researchers are working to unravel the mysteries of heart and kidney disease, cardiac complications in newborns, chronic lung disease, skin cancer, sickle cell disease, disorders of the autoimmune system, and much more. Many of these projects are collaborative in nature, involving experts from different areas of specialization. Our discoveries have prevented blindness in newborns, enabled premature infants with fragile lungs to breathe and allowed children with rare, often fatal diseases to grow up healthy and strong.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Health, or a related field required.
- Evidence of prior job experience in office or educational, administrative, or organizational role.
- Prior experience working in health care systems is ideal but not required
- Prior experience working with health professional trainees (students, residents) ideal but not required
Essential Functions:
•    Help facilitate onboarding of students and other trainees who come to Lundquist Institute and Harbor-UCLA to do clinical rotations or research, by  assisting in processing credentials and other required paperwork and training
•    Help facilitate educational activities for surgical residents, undergraduate students, medical students, including lectures, skills training,              conferences, and simulation training, and monitor their attendance•    Help collect evaluations of trainees
•    Attend staff meetings as needed
•    Assist surgical faculty administratively with such things as resident and faculty call schedules, tracking performance evaluations, scheduling conferences, meetings and lectures
•    Maintain high degree of responsibility for client confidentiality
•    Maintain a pleasant, courteous, tactful attitude with all contacts
•    Work with minimal supervision in exercising initiative in organizing and completing daily tasks
•    Solve minor problems by using judgment based on knowledge of Institute policies and department practices and procedures
•    Meet established productivity and task management standards for assigned duties
•    Overtime may be required to accomplish necessary duties
•    Work with a team of surgeons with the understanding that their schedules are sometimes unpredictable, and as such, urgent or last minute assignments may be requested/required
•    Assist in the recruitment of resident trainees by helping to organize interview days
•    Respond in a timely fashion to emails from faculty supervisors or trainees
