Office of Assessment, Accountability, and Analytics

Job Focus Area

This position is housed in the Office of Assessments, Accountability and Analytics and reports to the classified Education Consultant Supervisor. The person in this position will implement programs that further the development of statewide assessment and support the integration of the Louisiana Student Standards, instructional best practices, and assessments specific to English Language Arts (ELA). Some responsibilities of this position include developing, reviewing, and constructing the ELA assessments; creating assessment resources and presenting professional development; monitoring the scoring of ELA assessment tasks; analyzing the results of the state’s ELA assessments; and facilitating various assessment review committees.

The ideal candidate should have experience teaching ELA; possess in-depth knowledge of the Louisiana Student Standards for ELA and ELA instructional best practices; be familiar with the different Louisiana ELA assessments and resources; demonstrate excellent communication skills; and be able to handle several, detail-oriented projects at the same time without sacrificing quality.

Examples of duties

Five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience plus two years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

An advanced degree plus one year of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Supplemental information

  • Leading team meetings and reviewing the work/performance of peers.

  • Setting program goals and objectives, and developing plans for implementation.

  • Collaborating with Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) staff to stay current on state and federal programs.

  • Advising school system superintendents, educators, and external stakeholders on policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.

  • Assisting in the resolution of program-related problems for schools and school systems.

  • Researching and developing new solutions and enhancing content -based on trends, research findings, and legislative changes.

  • Designing and implementing evaluation methods to measure program quality and student impact.

  • Planning and conducting professional development, workshops, and conferences for educators, higher education institutions, and community groups.

  • Meeting with stakeholders from schools, colleges, technical institutions, and outside organizations to coordinate efforts.

  • Preparing reports, presentations, and communication materials for regional and state stakeholders.


Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.

Career Progression: T his position participates in a Career Progression Group. As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Education Consultant 1/2/3, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.

Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.

Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Education Consultant 2 (AS-617)

Hourly: $27.07 – $46.41

Biweekly: $2,165.60 – $3,712.80

Annually: $56,306 – $96,533

Education Consultant 3 (AS-618)

Hourly: $28.96 – $49.66

Biweekly: $2317.20– $3,972.80

Annually: $60,248 – $103,293

**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series has a special entrance rate of $25.30 hourly, $2,024.00 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions.The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire
