The Role

Education Assistant (4 Posts).

Join us in supporting an outstanding student experience.

We are seeking to appoint four Education Assistants to join the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. These roles are based within our academic Schools and offer an excellent opportunity for highly organised, customer-focused administrators who are passionate about supporting students and colleagues.Each successful candidate will be assigned to one of the following Schools.

Please see below for the roles we have available:

• History, Classics and Archaeology - open-ended, full time
• Education, Communication & Language Sciences - fixed term (until 31 July 2027), part time (0.5FTE/18.5 hours per week)
• Newcastle University Business School - open-ended, full time
• English Literature, Language and Linguistics - open-ended, full time

While all four roles share the same core responsibilities and job description, each post will contribute to the delivery of education and student support within their designated School, working closely with academic colleagues, students, and Professional Services teams.We are dedicated to supporting your professional growth.

As an Education Assistant, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality administrative and student support services that enhance the student experience and contribute to the University's reputation for excellence.

Key Outcomes & Accountabilities

• Deliver an exceptional student experience by responding to queries promptly and accurately, ensuring students feel supported and informed
• Maintain data integrity by managing student records and education-related documentation with 100% accuracy using University systems
• Enable successful events and activities (e.g., inductions, open days) by coordinating logistics and providing seamless administrative support, resulting in positive feedback from participants
• Ensure effective governance by preparing and supporting committees and meetings, producing clear and timely documentation that informs decision-making
• Drive process improvement by identifying and implementing enhancements that increase efficiency and reduce administrative errors
• Ensure compliance by applying relevant policies and procedures consistently, safeguarding quality standards and regulatory requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in administration or customer service with measurable achievements
• Strong digital literacy and ability to leverage technology for efficiency
• High attention to detail in data management and reporting
• Effective time management and ability to meet agreed targets
• Skilled in handling sensitive information with discretion
• Excellent communication skills tailored to diverse audiences
• Problem-solving mindset with evidence of implementing solutions

Qualifications

• GCSEs, or equivalent qualifications, including Maths and English at GCSE Level 4 or equivalent work experience in an administrative or customer service setting essential

Desirable

• 2 A-levels or equivalent qualifications/experience
