Location: This is an in-office position at our High Ridge, Missouri, location. Applicants must currently live within a reasonable commuting distance. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

The EDR Security Analyst assists the IT team in protecting the company’s digital assets from unauthorized access and cybersecurity threats. This position monitors and analyzes security activity, performs security checks, evaluates threat intelligence, and uses Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools to proactively identify and investigate potential threats.

The EDR Security Analyst works closely with the incident response team, threat intelligence analysts, IT staff, leadership, and other cybersecurity stakeholders. This position requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills and reports to the IT Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitor security systems and analyze activity to identify unusual behavior, vulnerabilities, security gaps, and potential threats.
  • Use EDR tools and threat intelligence to proactively hunt for and investigate cybersecurity threats.
  • Analyze attacker behaviors and methods to support threat detection and incident response efforts.
  • Help identify and implement changes needed to maintain a secure network and computing environment.
  • Assist with keeping the company’s security systems, tools, and documentation current.
  • Support the development and maintenance of security-related documentation, including incident response and disaster recovery plans.
  • Assist with computer forensic activities, including the collection, analysis, preservation, and reporting of data related to suspected security incidents.
  • Use reverse-engineering techniques, when appropriate, to understand software behavior, identify vulnerabilities, analyze malware, or support remediation efforts.
  • Work with the cybersecurity team, IT staff, and company leadership to communicate security concerns, findings, and recommended actions.
  • Assist with developing and delivering training programs or educational materials to help employees understand and follow appropriate security protocols.
  • Provide IT-related security and technical support as needed.
  • Protect confidential, sensitive, and privileged company information.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Knowledge of and ability to:

  • Analyze large amounts of data and identify anomalies, trends, and potential security concerns.
  • Work with computer systems, multiple operating systems, on-premises networks, and cloud-based architectures.
  • Identify and assist with correcting system vulnerabilities and security gaps.
  • Understand the current cybersecurity threat landscape.
  • Understand compliance requirements, laws, and government regulations related to cybersecurity incidents.
  • Communicate security information clearly to IT staff, employees, and company leadership.
  • Make sound decisions and maintain attention to detail while working under pressure.
  • Develop and provide employee training on security procedures and protocols.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Meet schedules and timelines.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Experience:

  • Experience providing desktop support and working with Active Directory.
  • Interest in or demonstrated experience with security intelligence and networking.

Education and Certifications:

  • EDR and security analyst training is recommended for individuals beginning their cybersecurity careers to demonstrate knowledge of baseline security skills.
  • Network security certifications are preferred, including:
    • Fortinet Certified Professional in Security Operations (FCP)
    • Certified Network Defender (CND)
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires the ability to handle, move, and carry computer and related technical equipment.
