Position Purpose:
All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI’s vision to be among the kindest, highest quality health systems in the country. The ED / Observation Coder oversees assigned departments’ charging through software systems.

Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Certified Coding Specialist – AHIMA (CCS); or Certified Outpatient Coder – AAPC (COC)
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in coding and/or charge capture.
Knowledge and Skills:
Preferences
Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in health information management or related field.
Experience: Experience with charge reconciliation software and EMR system (e.g. MediTech, Lynx)
Work Requirements
· Reaching and/or working above and below shoulder level.
· Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
· Walking up to 10% of the scheduled shift.
· Sitting at desk up to 90% of the scheduled shift with frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, standing.
