Title: EDM Machinist (Setup & Programming)
Shift: 8-hour shift between the hours of 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary: $23.00 – $30.00+ per hour, plus benefits (compensation is dependent on experience)
EDM Machinist Role:
Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented EDM Machinist to join their manufacturing team. This position exists to set up, program, and operate Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment to produce high-precision components that meet strict quality tolerances.
EDM Machinist Responsibilities:
- Complete complex setups of EDM machines, including selecting correct tooling, wire, fixtures, and work-holding devices
- Operate and program EDM machinery utilizing Fanuc controls and GTR software to ensure efficient production cycles
- Review 3D models and blueprints to perform minor edits and geometry adjustments in SolidWorks as required for machining optimization
- Inspect first-piece and in-process components using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and CMM
- Monitor machine performance and adjust cutting parameters to ensure strict adherence to tolerances
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical, electrical, or software issues during the manufacturing process
- Perform routine daily maintenance on EDM machines including fluid management, filter changes, and deionization tank monitoring
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation in compliance with facility safety standards
EDM Machinist Reporting Relationships:
The candidate reports directly to the Machine Shop Supervisor and has no direct reports.
About You:
- Possess a minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC EDM Wire and/or Sinker machines
- Demonstrate proven proficiency with Fanuc CNC controls
- Hold direct experience utilizing GTR software for EDM applications
- Exhibit the ability to navigate SolidWorks to view models, check dimensions, and make minor edits or adjustments
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and job routers
- Apply strong mathematical and analytical skills to resolve machining challenges
- Maintain a high level of manual dexterity and attention to detail throughout the production cycle
- Work independently with minimal supervision to meet daily production goals
- Bring preferred experience in high-precision industries such as Aerospace, Medical Device, or Tool & Die
