REPORTS TO: Director of Content and Editorial Strategy, Center on Extremism

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May take on future supervision responsibilities

LOCATION: New York, NY (CSC)

Grade/Class: Grade F, Exempt, PSA-Eligible

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Editorial Associate turns research, analysis, data, and trends into actionable insights for general readers and key partners. The Editorial Associate collaborates with the Director of Content and Editorial Strategy to execute a variety of editorial products for partners and proposes novel coverage ideas.

Responsibilities

Primary

  • Collaborate with the Director of Content and Editorial Strategy and the Director of Regional Intelligence Partnerships to translate complex Center on Extremism (COE) research into compelling, tailored reports for a diverse range of stakeholders, including Jewish communal security, academic, and corporate partners.
  • Monitor research trends and expert coverage across COE and the Center on Technology and Society (CTS) to proactively pitch and produce new editorial materials, including articles, reports, and both timely and evergreen editions of the extremely newsletter.
  • Lead the end-to-end drafting and editing of partnership reports while actively developing and implementing process improvements to increase the volume and efficiency of content production.
  • Partner cross-functionally with the web, social, and communications teams to source and create impactful visual assets that amplify organizational research and reporting.

Secondary

  • Assist in the drafting and editing of time-sensitive external materials, including Law Enforcement Alerts and Partner Flags, on an as-needed basis.
  • Support the incident response team by transforming raw data and emerging trends into accessible, reader-facing materials.
  • Provide overarching editorial project management and cross-team coordination as required to support broader departmental goals.

Work Experience:

  • The ideal candidate has several years’ experience working in a newsroom environment and familiarity with antisemitism and extremism is a plus.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

Compensation:

  • This position has a salary range of $66,000 to $85,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, New York. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
