Job Description
The Content Editor will be responsible for managing and curating product content across digital commerce platforms. This includes writing and editing product descriptions, specifications, and metadata to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with brand standards. A key aspect of the role involves working with AI-generated content reviewing, refining, and optimizing it to maintain a high-quality customer experience.
This position requires a strong editorial background, attention to detail, and familiarity with e-commerce content systems and SEO best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, edit and optimize product titles, descriptions, and attributes for clarity, accuracy, and search engine performance.
- Curate and refine AI-generated product content to ensure consistency with brand tone, style, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with merchandising, marketing, and technical teams to gather accurate product data and assets.
- Maintain consistency in formatting, terminology, and messaging across all product categories.
- Audit and update existing product content to reflect changes in inventory, features, or compliance requirements.
- Manage bulk content uploads and updates using CMS or PIM systems, ensuring data integrity.
- Monitor content performance and implement improvements based on analytics and customer behaviour insights.
- Create and maintain documents in terms of project guidelines, trackers, and datebases
- Ensure all content complies with legal, regulatory, and accessibility standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in content editing, preferably within an e-commerce or retail environment.
- Strong editorial skills with excellent grammar, attention to detail, and a clear understanding of brand voice.
- Experience working with AI content tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Jasper) and the ability to humanize machine-generated content.
- Familiarity with SEO principles and keyword optimization techniques.
- Proficiency in CMS and PIM systems, as well as Excel for managing large datasets.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience managing content for large-scale product catalogues or high-SKU environments.
- Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS for content formatting is an added advantage
- Understanding of online consumer behaviour and e-commerce content trends.
- Familiarity with analytics and SEO tools such as Google Analytics, SEMrush, or Ahrefs is an added advantage
