Emergency DepartmentICorbin, KY
The Emergency Department is a28-bedlevel III, emergency department, established to provide care for individuals with acute medical or surgical illnesses or injuries for which immediate medical attention is required or desired.
Professional caregiver working under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse. Responsible for providing assigned care according to scope of practice. Has adequate knowledge to approach patients of all age groups. All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives.
Assist with patient admission, orientation to room and safety features, and securing valuables.
Obtain vital signs, apply cardiac monitors, and perform EKG testingwith proper lead placement.
Support nurses and providers in patient care, including transfers, discharges, splinting, and wound care.
Collect blood, urine, and other specimens following hospital policy.
Recognize and report abnormal heart rhythms or vital signs to the care team.
Maintain clean, stocked, and safe patient care areas; locate and manage equipment.
Communicate professionally with patients, families, and staff to promote a positive environment.
Adhere to hospital policies, infection control, and safety standards while participating in required trainings.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
BLS/ACLS
Glucometer Training
Previous laboratory or customer service experience preferred.
Data entry and computer experience and /or phlebotomy, point of care testing experience preferred.
Preferred (but not required)
Nursing Assistant experience or prior phlebotomy training/experience is preferred
