Day - 12 Hour (United States of America) This is a Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley job.

A Brief Overview
Under the direction of the RN and Physicians, the Emergency Department Technician is to assist in the maintenance of department supplies and equipment, and to help with direct patient care. Completes procedures as ordered by physician.

What you will do

  • The essential functions listed below are general examples and not a description of comprehensive duties. May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provides care which assures that individualized, planned, and appropriate service occurs to meet specific care and treatment goals, and is done in a manner that fosters rapid movement of the patient through the ED/UCC system
  • Checks and documents vital signs, including temperature (rectal or oral), blood pressure, pulse rates, respiratory rates, pulse oximetry readings, and weight as directed by the RN or physician
  • Performs simple dressing application and maintenance of clean technique as ordered by physician.
  • Obtains, labels and transports specimens, including blood, urine, feces, and sputum as assigned
  • Answers Patient call lights to assure a timely response and ensures patient/family needs or observations are reported immediately to the appropriate staff. Escalates any needs that required an intervention to the RN or Physician as appropriate.
  • Assists the RN in the identification of reportable cases, i.e. abuse, infection control.
  • Removes soiled linens and replaced as needed. Ensures procedure equipment is removed and disposed of and/or cleaned and replaced immediately after use.
  • Malfunctioning equipment is removed from service and reported appropriately.
  • Attends meetings, in-service programs and serves on hospital committees as assigned
  • Provides education to improve health outcomes by encouraging healthy behaviors and by involving patient family in care decisions as directed by RN/Physician.
  • Provide support discharge instructions to patient as written by the Physician and directed by the RN to ensure age-related and specific to the patient's level of development and knowledge.
  • Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford Healthcare Tri-Valley's patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions.


Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
    Required


Experience Qualifications

  • 6 months of Emergency Room/Urgent Care Technician experience or work in an EMT-B, EMT-I or EMT-P related position Required


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and adherence to Code of Ethics and performance standards specific to patient care


Licenses and Certifications

  • Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare
    Providers required
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Tech required

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $28.84 - $37.08 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
