JOB

TheEconomic Justice ProgramManager is the lead for the Center’s workforcedevelopmentprogram and services.The primary goal of this program is to place transgender, non-binary, and gender diverse individuals, and LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness, into jobs that provide economic security and career pathways with LGBTQ+ affirming employers.Thisposition is responsible forproviding detailed workforce development case management,coordinatingYouBettaWorkLGBTQ+CareerFairs,jobreadinessworkshops,careercounseling, job placement, removing barriers to employment,relationship building and outreach withemployers,and building employment environments where LGBTQ+ people, especially those with multiple marginalized identities, can thrive.This positionis responsible forgenerating and sustaining revenue for the Economic Justice Program through employer engagement.

This position reports to theDirectorofAdvocacy& Trainingand works in partnershipwithotherprogrammingstaff,eventsteam, andstakeholdersaswellasdirectlywith communitymembersofdiversebackgrounds.Thispositionrequiresaflexiblecandidatetomeettheneeds of the program and its clients.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:

  3. Community outreach and engagement with LGBTQ+affirmingemployers

Clientadvocacy,supportandjobplacement:

  • CoordinatequarterlyLGBTQ+careerfairsand hiring eventsincludingeffortstorecruitaffirmingemployers,outreachto community members, and collaborate withCenter teamsto execute successful events.
  • Provide 1:1employment coaching;Coach job seekers to discover and accessemployment and jobtraining opportunities; provideresume building and interview skills,andothertoolsandresources,monitoringclientprogresstowardtheiremployment goals.
  • Accuratelyandcompletelyrecordjobseeker/clientprofileinformation,allservicesprovidedto clients,casenotes,andclientprogressintheclientdatasystemsdailyperagencyguidelines.
  • Conductcomprehensive,strengths-basedassessmentsfornewjobseekerstoevaluate barriers, inventory skills, and develop Individual Service Plans (ISP).
  • Coordinate/facilitatejobreadinesstrainingworkshopsincludingresumeandcoverletter development, behavior-based interviewing, personal branding, and application support
  • Matchqualifiedjobseekerswithappropriateemployers,assistwithapplications,coordinate interviews, and work towards a minimum 75% placement rate.
  • Receiveandrespondefficientlytointernalandexternalreferrals,collaboratingwithreferring agencies to report job seeker progress and recommendadditionalservices.
  • Developeducational and skills-basedpathwaysforjob readiness,entry-levelemployment,careeradvancement,andupskillingtosupport long-term career success for job seekers.

Leadworkforcedevelopmentprogramimplementation,complianceand sustainability:

  • Generate and sustaincareer fairemployerfeesand partner withDirector,the Grants & Program Sustainability Manger and CPO toidentifygrant funding opportunities and otherrevenuestreamsto support the Economic Justice Program.
  • Maintainprogrambudgetandensureorganizationalpolicyandprocedurecompliance;ensureall program and grant deliverables are met.
  • Provideregularwrittenprogramprogressreports,grantdeliverablereports,andotherdata and program evaluation reportspersupervisor and funder guidelines.
  • Maintain robust working knowledge of and contribute to the Center’s resource referral database to assist clients in accessing LGBTQIA+ culturally affirming housing, medical and mentalhealthserviceproviders,legalaid,crimevictimservices,subsidizedhealthinsurance coverage, public assistance programs, government issued identification, and other supports that help remove barriers to obtaining and maintaining economic security.
  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence byestablishingbenchmarks, timelines, and the resources needed to achieve strategic goals, analyzetrendsand proactively drive outcome improvementsasnecessary;setstandardsforaccountabilityandmeasurementsofsuccess.
  • Bethesubjectmatterexpertineconomicjusticeprinciplesandcareeradvancement.

CommunityoutreachandengagementwithLGBTQ+affirmingemployers:

  • BuildanetworkofLGBTQ+inclusiveemployersintheregion.
  • Serveasarepresentativeoftheorganizationincollaborativeworkforcedevelopmentpartner networks and at related community events, conferences, and activities with the intent to develop employment and professional development opportunities for jobseekers.
  • Develop strong relationships with a broad portfolio of LGBTQ+ affirming employers and securetheircommitmenttosharecurrentjobopeningsandhirejobseekersreferredbytheCenter.
  • Research,design,andcultivateamarketingstrategytohighlighttheservicesofferedbythe Center in collaboration with Communications & Marketing Manager.
  • Conduct outreach and train volunteers to do outreach at community events and workforce developmentevents,withanemphasisonspaceslikelytoencounterLGBTQ+jobseekers, economic empowerment organizations, and prospective employer partners.
  • CollaboratewithTrainingInstituteManagertosupportaccesstoLGBTQ+affirming workplace training, equity assessments, and policy development for employers.

GeneralDuties:

  • FunctionsasanessentialmemberoftheLeadershipTeamandAdvocacy& TrainingDepartment.
  • StaffandsupporteventsfortheCenter.
  • Facilitateorparticipateinstaffmeetings,planningmeetings,andothermeetingsasrequired.
  • Collaboratewithprogram,development,andoperationsstafftomaximizethereachofCenter programs and advocacy efforts.
  • Cultivate,train,andsuperviseinternsandvolunteersthatsupportprograms.
  • Handleavarietyofspecialprojectsandotherrelatedduties,asassigned.

QUALIFICATIONSANDEXPERIENCE:

  1. Experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and a commitment to serve the most vulnerablecommunitymembers:transgender/gendernon-conformingpeople,peopleofcolor, peoplewithdisabilities,peoplewhoaremarginallyhousedorexperiencinghomelessness, unemployed and underemployed people, and low-income people.
  2. Directclientservices,projectmanagementand/orworkforcedevelopmentexperience;abilitytosolve complex problems and multitask.
  3. Excellentinterpersonal,verbal,andwrittencommunicationskills;publicspeakingand workshop facilitation experience preferred.
  4. Demonstratedabilitytoworkeffectivelywithpeopleofdiverseraces,ethnicities,nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in an intersectional environment.
  5. Availability:M-F9a.m.-6p.m.;occasionaleveningandweekendhoursasneeded,forEJP and agency-wide events.This position will belocatedatour Lavender Heights and Marsha P. Johnson Center South work sites.
  6. Abilitytoworkindependentlyandcollaborativelyaspartofateam.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. PassionfortheCenter’smissionandworktocreatearegionwhereallLGBTQ+peoplecan thrive and a commitment to follow all policies and procedures of the organization.
  2. Education and/or Experience:3-5years experienceinworkforcedevelopment,community outreach/organizing,buildingandmanagingcommunityrelationshipsrequired. Abachelor’sdegreeinarelevantfieldmaybesubstitutedforworkforceexperience.
  3. LanguageSkills:ProficiencyinEnglishisrequired;Bilingualproficiencyinoneormoreother languages is preferred.
  4. Computer/Office Equipment Skills:Proficiencyworking with computers and Microsoft OfficesoftwareincludingOutlook,Word,Excel,PowerPoint,OneDrive,Teams,database systems, and social media tools.Adobe Suite, Canva, and database softwareproficiencyis preferred.
  5. Accesstoreliableautomobiletransportationwithavaliddriver’slicenseandproofof insurance isrequired. This position routinely works from various Center locations in Sacramento County, and occasionally inneighboring counties.This position requires extensiveoutreachwhere local travel isrequired.Center employees are eligible for mileage reimbursement for work-related travel.

  7. Physical Demands:The person in this position maybe requiredto move objects up to 50 pounds,setup pop-up tents/tables/chairs,ascend/descendstairs,operateofficeequipment,openandclosefilingcabinetsand boxes,observevisitors, and communicate messages by telephone.
