The Role:
As an Ecommerce Operations & Analytics Intern, you will play a key role in helping Cart.com build a scalable operational backbone for our Commerce-as-a-Service (CaaS) offering.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Ecommerce Solutions & Analytics, you will support the design and development of an Airtable-based operations system that connects planning, campaign management, execution workflows, and downstream ecommerce platforms like Shopify.
This internship is ideal for someone interested in the intersection of marketing operations, ecommerce, systems thinking, and automation—and who wants to build something tangible that will be used across the business.
Internship Objective & Focus:
Help design and build a centralized “CaaS Ops Command Center” in Airtable that connects workflows end-to-end, reduces manual handoffs, and enables real-time visibility across campaigns, brands, and channels.
What You’ll Do:
Map current agency and ecommerce workflows across planning, campaign execution, and reporting
Design and structure Airtable bases, tables, and relationships to support scalable operations
Build dashboards and views that provide visibility into campaign status, timelines, and performance
Develop light automations (formulas, scripts, integrations) to streamline data flow across systems
Support integration of operational workflows into ecommerce platforms like Shopify
Standardize processes and reduce manual handoffs across teams
Document workflows and create clear, usable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Partner cross-functionally with marketing, ecommerce, and analytics stakeholders
Learning Exposure:
Real-world application of marketing operations and ecommerce infrastructure
Hands-on experience with Airtable as an operational system of record
Exposure to Shopify ecosystem workflows and integrations
Process design, automation, and systems thinking in a high-growth environment
Cross-functional collaboration across marketing, operations, and analytics teams
What will help you Succeed in This Internship:
Coursework or academic projects in Marketing, Business, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field
Foundational understanding of ecommerce or digital marketing workflows
Basic familiarity with relational data concepts (tables, fields, relationships)
Skills (Applied Tools & Techniques):
Experience (academic or personal) with tools like Airtable, Excel/Google Sheets, or similar platforms
Ability to structure and organize data in a clear, logical way
Basic experience with formulas, automation tools, or scripting is a plus
Strong documentation and process-mapping skills
Abilities (Approach & Growth Potential):
Systems thinker who enjoys connecting moving parts into a cohesive workflow
Curious, proactive, and comfortable working in ambiguity
Strong attention to detail with a focus on building scalable solutions
Ability to take feedback, iterate quickly, and improve solutions over time
Effective communicator who can translate complex processes into simple documentation
Internship Structure:
Duration: 12 weeks
Schedule: Part Time Hours (20 hours or less per week) – During Semester
End- of- Internship Deliverable:
As part of the internship experience, the Intern will complete a defined operations system build projec t that applies academic learning to a real business challenge.
Deliverable 1: Fully functional CaaS Ops Command Center built in Airtable
Deliverable 2: Documented workflows and SOP playbook for team adoption
Deliverable 3: Final presentation showcasing system design, functionality, and scalability recommendations
