Job Description

As a Buyer at ZALORA, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the product offering across one of Asia's most dynamic fashion platforms. You will own a portfolio of international and local brands, taking full responsibility for range planning, commercial negotiations, and in-season trading performance. This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of fashion, data, and commerce; someone who can spot a trend, build a business case, and execute with precision.

You will be expected to bring a holistic, business-wide perspective, identifying opportunities not just within your own portfolio but collaboratively across the broader team. Success at this level is defined not only by commercial results, but by the quality of your brand relationships, the strength of your analytical thinking, and your ability to drive continuous improvement across every part of the buying cycle.

Responsibilities:

Brand Relationships & Strategic Partnership

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key brand partners and suppliers
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for your brand portfolio, supporting their business needs on the platform
  • Conduct regular brand review meetings; monthly, quarterly, and seasonally, to assess performance and align on strategy
  • Develop and execute joint sales strategies with brand partners to achieve shared revenue targets
  • Manage suppliers with a clear focus on both short and long-term goals, aligned to ZALORA's broader commercial strategy

Buying & Range Planning

  • Build and buy the most commercially relevant and trend-right range for ZALORA's target customer
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of emerging fashion and retail trends and how these shape the trading climate
  • Conduct regular competitor analysis to assess assortment gaps, identify opportunities for brand exclusives, and surface ideas for content, acquisition, and sales-driving initiatives
  • Ensure new arrivals cadence is consistent and that the range reflects both seasonal demand and customer preferences
  • Work closely with the merchandising and planning teams to ensure range decisions are commercially sound and aligned to stock and intake targets

Commercial Negotiation & Performance

  • Support all facets of contract negotiations with new and existing brands and suppliers
  • Manage brand performance across key commercial metrics including NMV, intake margin, trading margin, sell-through, stock turn, and delivery performance
  • Identify and act on promotional and marketing opportunities to drive incremental sales and deliver a competitive, exciting retail environment for the customer
  • Own profitability within your portfolio, driving improvements through better commercial structures and disciplined in-season management

Campaign Execution & Marketing Integration

  • Align brand partners to ZALORA's trading and marketing calendar, ensuring full participation in key campaigns and seasonal events
  • Work closely with internal marketing, content, and trading teams to ensure partners are properly integrated and campaign-ready
  • Oversee campaign readiness including deal mechanics, stock availability, and hero product selection
  • Run thorough post-campaign performance analysis and share clear, actionable findings with internal and external stakeholders

Data, Reporting & Trading Analysis

  • Monitor sales performance continuously and identify opportunities for improvement across your portfolio
  • Track and analyze key metrics including NMV, conversion, AOV, traffic, and size availability
  • Conduct in-season and end-of-season SWOT analyses and present clear, concise strategy reviews to senior management
  • Develop and execute corrective action plans in response to performance trends and market shifts
  • Regularly consume market research data to spot new business opportunities and inform range and commercial decisions
  • Produce accurate daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports for senior management visibility

Catalogue & Operational Excellence

  • Regularly review brand catalogues to ensure assortment is competitive, demand-appropriate, and aligned to customer needs
  • Ensure all product content meets ZALORA's quality guidelines — coordinating with internal teams to resolve issues promptly
  • Identify and escalate operational issues that impact brand or customer performance

Team Development

  • Support and mentor junior buyers and team members, sharing knowledge on best practices across the buying cycle, tools, and processes
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performance team culture where learnings are shared and wins are celebrated Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a retail buying and/or merchandising role, with strong e-commerce exposure preferred
  • Solid, end-to-end understanding of the buying cycle — from trend forecasting and range planning through to in-season trading and end-of-season review
  • Hands-on experience with data, reporting, and performance analysis
  • Proficiency in Excel is required; experience with Looker, Tableau, or similar BI tools is a strong advantage
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platform dynamics, marketplace operations, and digital retail metrics is highly desirable
  • Confident and effective negotiator, comfortable engaging senior stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Strong cross-functional collaborator — able to work seamlessly across commercial, marketing, content, operations, and tech teams
  • Sharp commercial instinct paired with strong numerical and analytical thinking — you make decisions backed by data
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
