Job Description

Location: We welcome applications from those looking for hybrid working, based 2 days per week in our Handforth (Cheshire) Office

About the Role

As an eCommerce Assistant, you will support the smooth delivery of category trading, optimisation, and product presentation across the website. You’ll play a key role in ensuring products are accurately set up, visually appealing, and performing well online — helping drive sales, improve conversion, and create an exceptional customer experience.

Working closely with the Trading, Buying, Marketing, and Content teams, you’ll contribute to the day-to-day execution of trading plans, support campaign launches, and maintain the quality and consistency of our product listings and category pages.

Key Responsibilities – What you’ll be doing

  • Support the eCommerce Trading & Optimisation team with the daily delivery of category trading plans.
  • Monitor performance metrics (sessions, conversion, AOV, revenue) using tools like Power BI and Google Analytics.
  • Produce daily and weekly trade reports, highlighting key insights for the wider team.
  • Set up and QA online promotions and campaigns, ensuring accurate pricing and on‑time launches.
  • Set up new products and ranges with accurate data, imagery, descriptions, and categorisation.
  • Work with studios and suppliers to source and upload high‑quality product imagery and assets.
  • Optimise product titles, features and keywords to align with SEO best practice and internal guidelines.
  • Complete regular audits of live products to ensure accuracy and consistency across data, imagery and content.
  • Support onsite merchandising to deliver an engaging, seamless customer experience.
  • Contribute to search, filter and navigation improvements by raising insights and recommendations.
  • Work with Trading, Marketing and Content teams on product launches and seasonal campaigns.
  • Ensure new ranges, brand events and promotional assets are set correctly and go live on time.
  • Track performance of key events and review stock and sell‑through post‑launch.
  • Identify bestsellers and slow movers, sharing observations with the team.
  • Collaborate with Buying, Supply Chain, Marketing and Digital Operations to support smooth end‑to‑end delivery.
  • Participate in team meetings and share relevant updates and insights.
  • Support the delivery of category sales and margin targets through effective execution of trading plans

About You – What you’ll bring to the Role

  • 1–2 years’ experience in ecommerce, online merchandising, or digital marketing (or strong interest in developing in this field).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative and proactive approach with good communication skills.

About Pets at Home

Since 1991, when we were a wholesaler with a team of just 15, we’ve been focused on getting better every day. By putting pets before profit, working as a team and taking pride in everything we do, we’ve grown into a 451 store network with more than 8,913 colleagues working in our Stores, Grooming Salons, Distribution Centres and Support Office.

We are the UK’s leading pet specialist, providing pet owners with all their product needs, as well as our Vets for Pets practices and Grooming salons. We support our colleagues to work with pride and passion, to bring honesty and integrity to work every day, and to do it all with a sense of fun and fearlessness. We never shy away from having the important conversations and doing what we say we’ll do.

Our values and behaviours are practiced daily across the business and are what really makes us an enjoyable, exciting place to work. We're always striving to develop and reward our colleagues with an extensive in-house series of training programmes, wellbeing initiatives and a comprehensive benefits package. In 2018 we were delighted to be voted top 5 in the Great Place to Work UK’s Large category.

Our colleagues are central to the success of the business and are fully trained in pet care and dedicated to animal welfare. Pets are central to everything that we do and 93% of colleagues have their own pets too!
