Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$54.670 - $70.540 - $79.000

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.


What You Will Do
Performs technical services, including specialized echocardiography examinations and other related tests. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • Education required to obtain ARDMS National Credential & RDCS.
  • 1 Year Experience performing 2D/Doppler/ M-Mode echocardiograms.
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonograph

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Stress Echo Treadmill testing.

Essential Functions

  • Clinical competency
    Participates in technical in-services and customer service in-services. Provides on-going clinical and service support and serves as preceptor for Echo Tests.
    Enhancing professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
    Attends at least 30 hours of echocardiography related CEUs over 3 year period relevant to job and providing CEU copies to be given to supervisor for employee file.
  • Clinical proficiencies
    Selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
    Positioning and transferring patients safely and comfortably.
    Initiates contrast protocol for suboptimal studies.
    Accurately perform technical tests in accordance with approved procedures.
    All completed procedures to be calculated, processed and charted in accordance with approved procedures with 100% accuracy.
    Assists physicians in reviewing echocardiograms, communicating clinical findings of significance.
    Operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment ensuring compliance with ICAEL standards.
  • Perform general clerical duties
    Provides assistance to staff in resolving issues related to add-on patients, including scheduling and telephone management.
    Assures correct patient data identification, completes entries in log books and computers including appropriate billing entries with 100% accuracy.
    Generates preliminary reports to be given to the physician in a timeframe per departmental standards.
    Accurate echocardiography transcription from physician worksheet.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to give close attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, effective interpersonal and patient contact skills.
  • Ability to perform 2-D/M-Mode Echocardiography examinations and other related tests.
  • Ability to calculate and prepare tests for review with physicians and provides accurate preliminary technical reports.
  • The ability to type 30 words per minute with 0-2 errors.
