Job Description

A Union County Public Schools (UCPS) Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher plans, organizes, and implements specialized instructional programs for students with disabilities. The role involves writing and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), delivering tailored instruction in resource or self-contained settings, and ensuring a safe, supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Instruction: Plan and deliver lessons matching student needs, functional performance, and state standards or Extended Content Standards.
• IEP Management: Write, review, and monitor Individualized Education Programs and track progress data.
• Classroom Management: Maintain a safe environment, manage student behavior, and direct support staff or instructional assistants.
• Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers, parents, school staff, and administrators.

Qualifications

• Hold an active North Carolina teaching license in Exceptional Children.
• Demonstrate knowledge of adaptive curricula, behavior intervention, or specialized settings depending on student needs.
