Department Overview

Rakuten Ichiba is one of the largest e-commerce shopping centers in Japan with approximately 60,000 stores opening and a total annual distribution of approximately 6 trillion yen in 2024.

It is a department that develops and operates business support systems within Rakuten Ichiba's products (services).

Among the business support systems, a customer management system that efficiently manages stores opened in Rakuten Ichiba, an analysis system for thinking about future strategies, a chatbot systems that promotes smooth communication between users and call centers, among others.

The business support system we are developing is also used for various in-house services such as Rakuten Travel (online travel reservation service) other than Rakuten Ichiba.

We are recruiting for a group that provides system consulting to our merchant stores.

By using the RMS (ASP service) provided by Rakuten Ichiba to its merchants, merchants can conduct their EC business at Rakuten Ichiba.

However, merchants face numerous challenges (such as wanting to improve operations by linking with Rakuten) depending on the type of business and company size. This role involves contributing to merchants' sales by supporting them in solving these challenges.

Position Details

Workflow

Receive consultations from the EC consultants in charge of our merchant stores.

Through web conferences, phone calls, emails, and on-site visits, we delve into the details of the challenges and clarify the operational and system issues faced by our merchants.

We propose appropriate solutions by combining features provided by Rakuten (web screens, CSV/FTP/API, notification services) or partner products.

We support merchants (or their development companies) to ensure smooth development.

While we have extensive contact with various departments within Rakuten Ichiba, including business divisions and development departments, we do not undertake actual development projects. However, because we communicate with a large number of merchants, our group understands not only the strengths of Rakuten Ichiba but also areas for improvement. From this insight, we sometimes determine specifications for new features.

Regardless of whether they joined straight out of university or as mid-career hires, our team is comprised of members with diverse experiences who are actively contributing.

Examples of experience

Sales experience in EC marketplaces, planning experience in EC marketplaces, EC store operation experience, business system development experience, quality control manager in manufacturing, etc.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Communication ability to negotiate and form consensus with other departments and external parties
- Ability to analyze operations from a quantitative and qualitative perspective, discover and solve problems
- Someone who can challenge existing paradigms, confront challenges, and dare to try without fear of failure
- Experience of overcoming difficult situations with your own ideas and execution (both business or private)
- Knowledge of computer systems

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience building a system by combining packaged software and existing services
- Requirement definition ability that can hear business requirements and incorporate them into system requirements and system specifications
- System development and operation experience
- Software and service sales experience
- Strong interest and curiosity in new web services, apps, and technologies
- Someone who can genuinely rejoice in the growth and success of customers, business stakeholders, and team members as if it were their own
- Someone who enjoys the ever-changing situations and be flexible in responding to changes
- The ability to leverage AI to improve operational efficiency
