Salary Range: $19.04 - $24.75 Hourly
Travel Percentage: Occasional travel to trainingsThe EC Rover assists in the operation of providing quality services to children at the
EC center on a daily basis. Responsible for assisting all teachers in their varied
classrooms to allow for teacher breaks, planning time, professional development time
and providing quality time for children.
Work Habits and Practices
- Report to work on a regular basis, as scheduled.
- To act as a team member with all center staff and management staff to meet the educational and developmental needs of enrolled children. Consults with appropriate staff regarding children’s special needs (dietary, equipment, etc).
- Demonstrate commitment to the PGST ECEP mission, values, and policies in performance of daily duties.
- Continue to increase professional knowledge, skills, and competencies in job related areas; incorporate and demonstrate new knowledge and skills on the job.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of program staff and family/child information.
- Contribute to the development of communication, mutual respect and support, competence and creativity among all members of the EC Program thru active participation in the Peer to Peer Coaching process.
- Accept responsibility for seeking assistance and guidance when needed; integrate constructive direction from supervisor to improve job performance.
- To participate in relevant training and opportunities.
Teacher Services
- Participate in providing a curriculum and classroom environment that builds and strengthens the security, trust, positive self-concepts and individual strengths of each child.
- Provide warm, caring, nurturing, positive, supportive responses to all children.
- Assist in providing developmentally appropriate best practices, principles, and performance standards in a comprehensive head start classroom environment.
- Assist in integrating S’Klallam cultural practices in all areas of the environment.
- Provide a leadership role in classroom when teachers are absent following established lesson plan and routine of care for children.
- Promote positive transitions for all children between activities.
- Establish and maintain safe and healthy classrooms; practice established health and safety procedures daily.
- Assist in the development and implementation of routines and curriculum that promote good health habits and integrate the health and nutrition components in the classroom.
- To maintain safe, sanitary and clean classroom areas this includes indoor and outdoor environments and equipment.
- To support the partnership with families that promotes them as the primary teacher of their child in the areas of literacy, numeric, social and emotional and physical growth.
- To assist the bus driver as a bus monitor in transporting children.
Communications
- Assist in maintaining on-going documentation for each child, record pertinent information in child’s file, including but not limited to child observations, verbal and written communications with families and staff in regards to child.
- Conduct all communication with staff, supervisor, program participants, and community in an effective, respectful, timely, and supportive manner.
- Participate in data systems (ChildPlus/TSG) as needed.
- Maintain organized and accessible documentation regarding individual children.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of program staff and family/child information.
- To attend relevant staff meetings and staffing of children and families. To participate in annual reviews of work plan and program policies and procedures.
Education and Certifications:
- Prefer NWIC ECE Initial Certificate or CDA Endorsement.
- Candidates with High School diploma or Graduate Equivalency Degree (G. E. D.) will
be placed at entry level rate.
- First Aid CPR Certification. Food Handler’s- Required.
- Washington Driver’s license- Required
- Cultural Knowledge- Strong knowledge of history, traditions, language and lands of the S’Klallam Tribe.
Experience:
- With a high school diploma, one year consistent paid experience working with groups of children 0-36 months in a child care center AND/OR experience working with children 0 -36 months in the local community.
- Personal Computer Skills: Intermediate computer skills are required, as well as the ability to learn varied data entry programs (i.e. Child Plus)
- Cultural Knowledge-Strong knowledge of history, traditions, language and lands of the S’Klallam Tribe.
Other Requirements
- Position is eligible for situational remote work as needed. The schedule must be discussed with and approved by supervisor and director and may be subject to change depending on role and department need.

- Computer Skills: Experienced or able to learn: PC network, ChildPlus and Teaching Strategies GOLD data entry systems, Microsoft Word, Excel
- Interpersonal Relationship Ability: Ability to interact with others in a professional and compassionate manner, maintain confidentiality and work well as a member of a team.
- Reporting is mandatory for tribal employees and
contractors with the tribe who perform services to the community in the
areas of education, health and human services, law enforcement and
members of the clergy.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to finger, handle, reach with hands and arms
- Frequently required to walk, sit, stand
- Frequently required to be in an outdoor environment rain or shine to support classrooms in their outdoor land based curriculum
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Normal audio and visual acuity
Travel Requirements:
- Local, Statewide and out of state travel may be required.
