The Opportunity

This is an exciting time to join Moonee Valley City Council as we continue to invest in and transform our early years services. We are seeking a proactive and driven Early Years Project Officer to join our Family and Children’s Services Department within the Capacity, Access and Optimisation unit.

In this role, you will contribute to a dynamic portfolio of projects that are shaping the future of early years infrastructure and service delivery across the municipality. From supporting major infrastructure initiatives through the Building Blocks Partnership to driving service optimisation projects, you will play a key role in delivering outcomes that have a lasting impact on children, families and the community.

Working in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment, you will provide essential project and administrative support to ensure initiatives are delivered efficiently, effectively and with a strong focus on community needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level administrative support to the Senior Coordinator Capacity, Access and Optimisation, including managing correspondence, calendars, and meeting coordination.
  • Support the Early Years Infrastructure Project Manager in the delivery of Building Blocks Partnership projects and the Outdoor Capital Works Program.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes, and follow up on actions to keep projects progressing.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, documentation, and correspondence within Council’s systems.
  • Contribute to the planning, delivery and opening of early years infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Support and coordinate a range of non-infrastructure projects across the unit and department.
  • Actively monitor project milestones and provide regular progress updates in line with agreed timelines.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Assist in gathering and analysing data to inform optimisation initiatives and future infrastructure planning.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will bring experience in project and administrative support, ideally within local government, early years, or community services. You are highly organised, adaptable, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.

You are a strong communicator with the ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively across teams. Your experience includes coordinating projects or programs, supporting governance processes, and delivering outcomes within set timeframes. You bring a proactive mindset, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in contributing to innovative, community-focused service delivery.
