As an Infant Teacher, you will:

  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that supports the health, well-being, and development of infants.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive, physical, social-emotional, and language development.
  • Observe and respond to each infant's individual needs while tracking developmental milestones.
  • Build positive relationships with families through daily communication and collaboration.
  • Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and program policies while participating in ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

of job responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum for infants and toddlers using the Early Head Start curriculum.
  • Lead, support, and mentor classroom staff through collaboration, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom environment while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Monitor and assess children's developmental progress, complete required screenings and assessments, and coordinate referrals as needed.
  • Complete and maintain accurate documentation, including attendance, lesson plans, observations, health checks, and TSG (Teaching Strategies Gold data).
  • Build positive partnerships with families through ongoing communication and parent engagement.
  • Participate in trainings, meetings, and agency initiatives while supporting the mission and values of the organization.

Qualifications

Qualifications require the following for the role of Teacher:

  • Clearance through NYS Central Registry (SCR) is required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, with at least three years of related experience, including one year working with children ages 6 weeks to 3 years.
  • Child Development Associates (CDA) Credential required within the first year of employment.
  • Associates’ Degree preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children or in a day care and classroom setting.
  • Must meet NYS/Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations requirements.
  • Must meet health standards for OCFS licensing, be able to lift up to 40 pounds and be able to participate in all developmentally appropriate activities.

Our Day Care Environment:

  • Individual must be willing to work additional hours as required.
  • Support program needs to ensure classroom ratios are met at all times.
  • Position has both internal contacts within the organization and external contacts within the community, which require considerable tact, courtesy, and diplomacy.
  • The utmost of integrity is required to safeguard confidential proprietary information.
  • Weather permitting daily walks and outdoor activities with the children.
