Examples of duties

This role inspects child care providers, offers technical guidance, and ensures adherence to state regulations. As an Early Learning Program Certification Representative, you will perform the following duties:

  • Public Guidance: Respond to inquiries, provide technical assistance, and offer orientation information to operators
  • Facility Inspection: Investigate provider compliance for applications, inspections, monitoring visits, and complaints
  • Certification Follow-Up: Complete reports, determine compliance, and prepare documents for certification actions
  • Interagency Collaboration: Participate in initiatives, review drafts, and represent regulatory positions in meetings
  • Program Support: Use electronic systems, prepare documents, and update provider information in required databases

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • You will have the ability to request home headquartering after 6 months on the job.
  • You must be willing to travel frequently, including overnight to facilities located in urban, suburban, and rural areas of the Commonwealth. Travel expenses will be paid.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience providing direct services to children and youth and a bachelor’s degree that includes 24 semester hours of college level courses in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, psychology, or human development; or
  • An equivalent combination of professional experience and training, which includes one year of professional experience providing direct services to children and youth and 24 semester hours of college level courses in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, psychology, or human development.

  • You must reside in or be willing to relocate to one of the following counties within the Western Region within the first 6 months of employment: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Fayette Forest, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, McKean, Mercer, Potter, Somerset, Venango, Warren, Washington, or Westmoreland.

Legal Requirement:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
