The Early Learning Center - Director is a visionary and hands-on leader responsible for the strategic and daily operations of The Westminster Schools’ Early Learning Center, which serves children from six weeks through two years of age. As the program’s chief administrator, the Director oversees all aspects of program management, including curriculum development, staff recruitment and supervision, budget and facilities oversight, regulatory compliance, and community engagement. The Director plays a central role in shaping a nurturing, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate environment that supports the growth and well-being of both students and educators. The Director also maintains key relationships with families, ensures high standards of communication and professionalism, and upholds Westminster’s mission, values, and commitment to excellence in early childhood education. This position requires a collaborative, highly organized leader who is deeply committed to early learning and can foster a positive and inclusive culture within the Early Learning Center community.
Supervisor: Director for Auxiliary Services and Risk Management

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Early Learning Center Teachers and Staff
Position Status:  Salaried, exempt, full-time, 12-month
Hours of Work: Standard work week; Days of work are Monday through Friday, and the core hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The Early Learning Center follows the school calendar and also provides summer services. Hours may vary to accommodate In-Service and Professional Development days as needed.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for a successful candidate.
- A love of children and a desire to create a warm and stimulating environment that encourages a love of learning
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in child development programs, including two years of supervisory responsibility
- Proven ability to attract, manage, and develop quality childcare staff and teachers; creating and leading a cohesive and diverse team; developing a culture committed to continuous improvement
- Ability to collaborate and facilitate the development of team initiatives, implementation of the initiatives, and post-implementation assessment
- Commitment to a culture of respect and personnel development
- Superb interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively and represent the school with professionalism and enthusiasm to a very broad constituency
- Outstanding organizational and prioritization skills
- Great attention to detail and initiative in problem solving
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Strong budgetary and fiscal management skills
- Self-motivated with professional demeanor and presence, positive attitude, and strong work ethic
- Bright from the Start Preschool Director certification
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Administrative
- Manages day-to-day administration and operation of the school, its budget, and its programs
- Manages all aspects of recruitment of new families, admissions, and enrollment
- Collects tuition and fees
- Ensures compliance with applicable state codes and regulations
- Maintains accreditation and seeks additional accreditations when appropriate.
- Engages with other community preschools to help calibrate policies and direction
- Creates the Early Learning Center’s calendar in symphony with Westminster’s school-wide calendar
- Manages and updates the Early Learning Center’s software/database
- Maintains student records and personnel files
- Approves and authorizes payroll for Early Learning Center employees
- Develops the Early Learning Center’s annual budget and works to ensure that operations remain faithful to the established trajectory
- Maintains a working knowledge of current budget line-item account balances and future projections
- Markets the Early Learning Center to Westminster faculty and staff, as well as the community
- Oversees the facility in partnership with Westminster’s Facilities Department; plans for improvements as needed
- Oversees the school’s breakfast and snacks
- Manages the Early Learning Center’s Summer Program
- Perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Personnel Management
- Hires, coaches, observes, supports, and evaluates new staff members
- Hires Early Learning Center summer camp counselors and assists in planning themes and lessons
- Prepares and leads pre-planning as well as regular staff meetings
- Assists with teacher parent/teacher conferences as needed
- Seeks out and implements professional development opportunities for staff
- Maintains a list of approved substitute teachers
- Oversees mentor groups at the preschool and meets with the mentor teachers regularly
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Educational Leadership
- Creates developmentally appropriate education programs and curricula consistent with the school’s philosophy, updating and revising as needed; utilizes community resources that will enrich the curriculum and provide positive experiences for students
- Plans parent-education programs and offerings
- Participates in area preschool group meetings and conferences
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Communication
- Meets with direct supervisor and any other committees as needed
- Updates the policies in the Early Learning Center handbook as needed
- Produces and communicates parent and program updates
- Supports the Westminster community in all communications with Early Learning Center staff and parents
- Actively represents Westminster in the community
- Interacts in a spirit of mutual respect, trust, and transparency with teachers, students, parents, staff, and the School
- Maintains a visible presence at the Early Learning Center, fostering open communication of feedback and support
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to become certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid is required.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions and frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.  The noise level in the work environment is often loud.
Westminster is a drug-free, smoke/vape-free campus.
TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the regular business day.  Overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required, mainly associated with planned events, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
Driving a Westminster vehicle may be required for this position.
